MONTECASSILAS 3, MAZARRON 2

Montecassilas 3 Mazarron 2
Mazarron deployed a new tactic on Saturday, arriving without shorts possibly in the hope that the opposition would freeze to death before the game started! Unfortunately this did not happen due to a quick trip to a sports shop by the president and the use of scissors to cut a pair of track suit bottoms down to the right size by the trainer.
Once the game started a much improved performance was seen from Mazarron with the use of Diego jnr and Pescau as attackers. However in the 6th minute a break down the left saw the ball eventually end up in the back of the net to put them a goal behind.
Mazarron continued to enjoy as much of the ball as Montecassilas but after 20 minutes a free kick from 20 – 25 yards out was fired into the net. In previous games, heads would have dropped but not today. Mazarron continued to press forward and were rewarded in the 32nd minute when a quickly taken free kick by Joseda was put away in style by young Diego.
Shortly after this the home keeper missed a corner but the ball was cleared and in the 36th minute Ruben did the same but the ball was not cleared despite there being 3 or 4 chances to do so and the ball finished up in the net to put the home team 3-1 ahead.
To say that Mazarron dominated the second half would be an overstatement but they did have most of the chances and they were eventually rewarded when Joseda struck from distance to put the ball into the corner of the net.
The equalizer almost came on several occasions with shots from young Diego, Pescau and the man of the match Joseda but unfortunately the home defence stood form. However this was a much improved performance and at no stage did the heads drop as has been happening for most of the season.
