Launch of New Ownership at Tropicana Bar

Short film screening in Mazarrón

The short film "SEASON" will be screened in Mazarrón on Thursday 12 April at 9pm at the Universidad Popular.

On April 12 also at the same venue at 9pm the short film "Hors Saison" (Out of Season) will be shown.  This film has garnered countless successes nationally and internationally. "Out of Season" has had the participation of various actors from both Mazarrón and the districts near the municipality of  Ramonete/ Morata. Additionally, it features actors from Aguilas, Lorca and Coy.

The film is directed by Victoria Saez, an actress and director born in France. Saez is the daughter of an exiled Lorquino (person from Lorca), and it should be noted that this film is the first work of Saez. The film has picked up the concerns of the director herself, (although through a fictional story) in which the daughter of immigrants returns to Spain to settle the inheritance of her parents.

In its final version, the film lasts 27 minutes. In its post-production phase the film was adapted for screening in Germany, France and Spain where it has been seen in recent months. The tape also included in the film analysis classes at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena and is soon likely to progress to the School of Dramatic Arts at the University of Murcia.

The film is an international co-production of the French "Arimage Productions" and Spanish "Lolita Films" and "Eigavisión".  The latter is owned by the Murcian writer and filmmaker Dany Campos, who has acted as executive producer. The short presentation will be attended by the Mazarrón actors in this film.

MATCH REPORT FOR MAZARRÓN FC - 25 MARCH

Bullense 5 Mazarron 0
Mazarron were forced into fielding a very much weakened team due to a clash with a vital juvenile game against Bala Azul
The game was fairly quiet in the opening 20 minutes or so but sprang to life in the 26th minute when a long range free kick for Bullense hit both posts before bouncing to safety with Ruben well beaten.
Alfonso then hit a long range free kick narrowly wide but in the 36th minute,  Gasero scored for Bullense from what appeared to be an offside position. Mazarron´s reply was quick but not as decisive. Edin ran through from near half way beat all the defenders but then fired in a weak shot which a returning defender managed to clear well before it reached the empty net.
The second half started badly for Mazarron with one of the Bullense players running onto a through ball and scoring within two minutes of the restart. If there were doubts about the validity of their first goal, this one was undoubtedly offside as the scorer was the only player apart from Ruben in the Mazarron half!
Mazarron continued to have scoring opportunities with the best opportunity coming from a corner when Chico hit the ball over the top of the goal.
In the 68th minute a poor clearance from substitute Alcaraz was hit back into the area and deflected into the net.
The game then petered out but there was still time for Bullense to score twice from dead ball situations. The first of these was a brilliant free kick on the right which was hammered into the far top corner of the net and the second from a penalty awarded by the linesman for an innocuous looking tackle.
This was perhaps the worst performance of the season by Mazarron.
Team: Ruben, Pollo, Diego, Alfonso, Chico, Guillermo, Dani, Habibe (Abdel), Jose (Alcaraz), Jaguar (Ahmed), Edin

Discovering Moratalla with the Tourist Office.

Route 5. Departs 25 March, 8.00am from Tourist Office. Approximately 4 hour walk with lunch optional.

We start the tour of the Casa Cristo, Moratalla, to enjoy stunning views over a wide area of the Murcia region, surrounded by large peaks over 1,400 meters, the ascent is precisely one of the objectives of today. We will take the first steps on the Cordel de Cehegín, the traditional path down for the cows of the village. Following the summit, we will be walking down to the Pozo de la Nieve, fairly well preserved and a large maple in it, and will also see the ruins of this impressive building. We then make our way to the Fuente de la Umbria, an important place in the history of Moratalla, due to the aqueduct that was built in the sixteenth century to supply water to the people. These days of course it’s much more modern and people are still able to take advantage of this water. The descent is through a forest mixed with oaks and pines and it’s not uncommon to find traces of small mammals inhabiting the area.

Mazarrón FC report: Mazarron FC 0 SC Aguileno 1

In an interesting and exciting game Mazarron were unfortunate to lose to a hotly disputed goal in the 93rd minute when following a spell of Mazarron pressure, Jose David the Aguileño centre forward ran onto a through ball and scored. Some people, including unfortunately the linesman, thought he started his run in his own half but there were many present who disputed this including the whole of the Mazarron team and the coach.

Mazarron again started the game playing good constructive football and could have scored as early as the 4th minute when Guillermo played the ball through only for the keeper to come out of the ensuing dust storm with the ball!

Both sides had many chances in the first half and Ruben was called on to make a good save when the ball was volleyed in from a comer. Edin had several chances and a shot from Jose Da from 30 yards went narrowly wide

The second half continued in the same manner and Ruben again had to make a good save when Diego misjudged a ball and once again, in the sand storm which followed, the ball was eventually cleared to safety by Diego.

As the game approached stoppage time, the Aguileño left back was sent off for a second bookable offence and this sparked a long spell of Mazarron pressure which, eventually brought about their downfall when Rollon thundered the ball against the cross bar only to see it cleared. From the clearance Jose David beat the defence and ran through to score from what was, to most spectators, an offside position.

Despite playing well, Mazarron again suffered from the inability to convert any of their many chances into goals, and the youngsters again seemed to tire which was not surprising considering they had played the previous day for the successful juvenile team.

Team: Ruben, Ahmed, Diego, Alfonso, Matt Clarke, Chico (Dani), Guillermo, Jose Da (Jaguar), Jose, Pescau, Edin (Rollon).

MATCH REPORT FOR MAZARRÓN FC - 4 MARCH

Jumilla 3 Mazarron 1
After the brilliant win against the league leaders last week, Mazarron could not repeat their success and eventually lost 3 – 1 to a Jumilla team who, in all honesty, were not really much better
Without key players Alfonso, Jose Da and Diego junior, there were several changes but for the first 15 minutes Mazarron matched Jumilla and Edin missed a golden chance when put clean through after good work by Guillermo and Jose. However, in the 16th minute Mazarron gave the ball away in midfield and when a cross came in from the right, poor defending left an unmarked forward with the easy task of opening the scoring for Jumilla.
For the rest of the first half Ruben cemented his eventual position as Man of the Match by making several good saves, usually from shots hit from distance and Mazarron were fortunate to reach the break only one goal down
At half time Edin was substituted without any immediate improvement in the attacking half, and Ruben had to continue to make good saves. Unfortunately, one of these saves led to a corner from which the ball was put into the net to double Jumilla’s lead.
In the 63rd minute, the referee gave an indirect free kick to Mazarron just inside the penalty area when it was difficult to know why a penalty was not awarded. However, Pollo rolled the ball sideways to Guillermo who curled the ball over the wall and keeper into the net to reduce the arrears.
This gave Mazarron some hope of a result but, despite been able to exert more pressure, they were unable to add to their tally and, with 5 minutes left yet another good save from Ruben was followed up by a Jumilla striker who made the score 3-1 with the Mazarron defence standing still.
Without Jose Da and Diego junior there were few attacking opportunities but the main problem  seemed to be the inability of either full back to mark their wingers and get in convincing tackles leaving Mazarron vulnerable to crosses from both flanks.
Team: Ruben, Pollo, Ahmet, Diego (Pesci),Guillermo, Chico, Victor (Dani), Dani, Edin (Habib), Jose, Matt Clarke
