Libraries of Mazarrón and Puerto de Mazarrón has expanded its opening times this summer. They are open from Monday to Friday from 9 to 14 and from 16:30 to 20:30 hours.

Gomez Jordana Library in Mazarrón is located on the second floor of the Cultural Centre located at number 17 Entierro de la Sardina.  It has a collection of more than 16,000 documents and has about two thousand readers. Among their services is the promotion of reading, the consultation room, Internet, home loan, local section, use of computers, children's library, interlibrary loan, document reproduction, online and wireless services.

The Library of Puerto de Mazarrón is located at number 1 in Avenida Costa Calida, opposite the Medical Centre and next to the Plaza de Abastos. It has more than 6,000 titles and around a thousand readers. It also encourages reading, consultation room, Internet, home loan, document reproduction, online services, children's library, local section and wifi.


The Department of Celebrations of M.I. City of Mazarrón are putting the finishing touches to the organization of the III Summer Carnival. Enrolment period will commence from 18 July.

 The promenade of Puerto de Mazarron is again the venue for a contest to be held on Saturday August 1 from 9pm. The exact route will begin at the top of Casa Rolandi and end on the Explanada del Puerto Deportivo

Everything will be set to relive a spectacle of colour, music and dancing by the sea that usually gathers thousands.

 As every year, fishermen and residents of Puerto de Mazarrón pay homage to the Virgen del Carmen. At 6pm today the la Lonja de Pescado houses Mass in honour of the “Estrella de los Mares” by the Pastor of the Church of San José, Justo José Sánchez. The event will be held with the traditional presence of civil and military authorities.

Subsequently, as is tradition the image of the Virgen del Carmen procession will be in marine waters of the Bay of Mazarrón. This year the boat that has the honour of carrying the patron is the "Cinco Hermanas II". During the course of the procession it will pay tribute to the deceased fishermen.

Back in Puerto, the Virgen del Carmen will be carried on the shoulders of fishermen to the church of San José. Thousands of people enjoy every year of this popular religious act.

La Concejalía de Cultura del M.I. Ayuntamiento de Mazarrón and la Asociación Musical “Maestro Eugenio Calderón”    which[MS1]  celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, presents the third edition of the 'Musical Summers', a new series of concerts and music bands performing in the open air and are free to the public in Puerto de Mazarrón

Three concerts are scheduled. On Saturday July 18,  la Asociación Musical “Maestro Eugenio Calderón” will host with help from the Department of Culture, Saturday July 25 with see a performance by Agrupacion Musical from Blanca; and closing the schedule on 2 August will be a musical concert from la Unión Musical Cartagonova of Cartagena

The concerts will take place at 9.30pm in the Marina
The organization thanks the participating bands as well as the volunteers, who have come together for the purpose of promoting music, and highlighting the great cultural work done by bands of Murcia

From now until late August, residents and tourists of Mazarrón have the opportunity to wander among stalls and craft stalls to find a wide variety of products. The traditional summer market of Puerto de Mazarrón was inaugurated by the Mayor of Mazarrón, Alicia Jimenez and the Councillor for Commerce, Maria Angeles Roman, along with leaders of the Association of Dealers on Saturday 4 July
Located on Avenida Costa Calida, behind the Market Square next to the Medical Centre, the market expands their range during summer nights and brings benefits to local and surrounding businesses. The opening hours are from eight in the evening until one-thirty in the morning, approximately.

The inauguration was also attended by the Councillors of Celebration, Social Policy and Agriculture, Patricio Sánchez, María Laura Ortiz and Isabel Lopez.


Sunday July 12, in Santiago de la Ribera on the Explanada de Barnuevo you can find "Artisan Market Mar Menor" with summer opening hours of 10am – midnight on the second Sunday of each month, offering locals and foreign visitors to our community the most genuine craft that takes place in the region of Murcia. There are more than fifty stalls demonstrating their crafts while having their work for sale. 


The Youth Council of the City of Mazarrón has organized two new awareness campaigns to the marine world. Those who wish, on 18 and 19 July, have the opportunity to take a boat trip around the bay of Mazarrón, for a whole morning, and spot our marine life such as dolphins, pilot whales and other marine animals.
The activity also comes complete with informative explanations and respect for the natural environment. Their participants shall, during navigation receive information through a photographic review of the different species of birds, fish and other inhabitants of the Mediterranean.
The trip will take place from 9 to 14 hours, for a price of 10 euros per person. Places are limited: Ten every day.

The local board of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) and a dozen hairdressers from the Municipality will participate next Sunday in a new act of the “Mechones Solidarios”. It will be at the Plaza Toneleros, Puerto de Mazarrón  from 10:00 to 14:00.

Those who wish may get a haircut at the price of 5€. The money raised will go to the benefit of the Spanish Association Against Cancer. The campaign “Mechones Solidarios” is an initiative of the AECC who is touring throughout the country with the slogan "We transform your hair to give hope for cancer patients, creating custom wigs."

Mazarrón hairdressers who have already confirmed their collaboration are: Ginés Peluqueros, Silvia Noguera, Acuario, Pilar Verdú, Gini González, Peluquería Raquel, Peluquería José Torres, Maribel Soler, Peluquería Pepi, Peluquería Mari Carmen and Peluquería Dami.


The XXII edition off the Athletics Night Race for Life organized by the association, Todos Contra la Droga in collaboration with the City of Mazarrón, which has already become a classic in the summer and usually attracts participants from different parts of Spain, will be held on Saturday July 25, from 8.30pm

Bolnuevo erosions will be the starting point of this test which includes different categories from the youngest to veterans. Registrations may be made, as in previous editions, via the web until 24 July. The registration fee for this charity race is 5€ for adults and 2€ for children.
