WALKING ROUTE IN MORATALLA, 13 JANUARY

Departure at 8am from the Tourist Office in Moratalla or at 8.45am from Benizar

The route commences in the Village of Charan, currently an uninhabited population although with many restored homes, nestled on the edge of a plateau, to the edge of the Barranco del Agua and at the foot of Molata. We will walk towards the
Cueva de los Cascarones over abandoned fields, visit the cave first, then go towards Molata, a geographical landmark that identifies the town of Moratalla 50 km away, walking among junipers to find lots of crumbling remains of ancient inhabitants of a troubled era. We´ll then descend to find the remains of an ancient Roman villa,  the remains of which are a few large stones and ceramic tiles. In return we will find old wells, typical of this area, which served as the water supply for the inhabitants of the village, and their cattle.

The day will be completed by lunch in Benizar
