The Mazarrón district of Gañuelas celebrates its festivities in honour of St. Bartolome.
The programme begins on Saturday 22 August with a performance by Los Luisos and selection of this years Queen, and selection of “Mr and Miss Visitors” about 11pm. Then will begin the popular and busy Ibiza Fiesta or "White Party", with foam and entertainment by DJ Ruben Garvi.

Sunday August 23 at 2pm there will be paella for all attendees. In the afternoon, from 7pm, sees a Rociera party and horseback run. At 9.30pm it will be the turn for the performance of the group Sevillanas Group Corinto Vivo, followed by a concert by Al Relente.

Gañuelas neighbours celebrate the feast of its Patron, St. Bartolome, on Monday August 24 with the traditional Mass at 7pm. At night, from 10pm dance school act Juan Antonio and David Andreu close the fiesta.

As in previous years, the Cofradía de Nuestra Señora del Cisne have organized in collaboration with the City Council a very popular celebration among the Latino population of Mazarrón and surrounding Municipalities. The most important event will take place Saturday August 15 from 7pm with the celebration of Mass in honour of the Virgen del Cisne. This is followed by a procession of the image of the popular "churonita" through the streets of Mazarrón and delivery of wreaths by devotees. At night, on the fairgrounds of Los Rincones musical performances and fireworks will take place after the opening speech

Sunday August 16 at 17:00 hours, will see recreational games for both children and adults. Popular activities include musical chairs and tomato and food binges, amongst others

For its part, the Cultural Association of Canada de Gallego also celebrates their fiesta in Percheles between 14 and 24 August. On Friday 14, at 10.30pm will be a performance by Los Luisos then a disco with DJs from 12.30am. On Saturday August 15, at 10.30pm it will be the turn for the Dance Academy Rosa Playas de Percheles followed by a foam party at 12.30am . The music will continue on Sunday 16 in the morning, at 10:30am with a Zumba show to benefit  Spanish Association Against Cancer.

For the third year Mazarrón Bahia will be lit, this time by over a thousand lanterns. This is to benefit the charity Caritas and will take place from 11pm on Saturday August 15. This year the number of lanterns being released are between 1000-1200. Throughout the day, two booths that are set up on the promenade will be selling lanterns for the price of 4€ each. The money raised will be donated to Caritas as confirmed at the presentation ceremony by the Mayor of Mazarrón, Alicia Jimenez, accompanied by Councillor of Social Policy and Celebrations, Laura Sanchez and Patricio Ortiz, respectively.

Concepcion Aparicio, President of Caritas of Puerto de Mazarrón, recalled the importance of this activity as every penny raised will benefit the most disadvantaged. Caritas helps more than 150 families in the Port, offering support to those in extreme poverty and terminally ill patients.

With the objective and responsibility to always ensure safety, this activity is at the mercy of the weather, so it could undergo changes in its organization, as the Mayor said, Alicia Jimenez.

All set for a night of joy and good feelings in the company of one of the best bands on the national scene. The World Orchestra Show, in collaboration with the City Council and the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) will bring to Mazarrón the musical “La Fiesta de la Alegría” .

The date is Friday August 7 at The Stadium Playasol Puerto de Mazarron, from 22:00. For now, "the sale of tickets is very good and already accounted for are 1,400 sold -  in previous years 1,000 tickets was reached on the day of the musical," says the President of the local board of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC), Luisa Heredia. The price of the tickets is 10 euros, in aid of the AECC. They can be purchased in Puerto de Mazarrón in the Tourist Office, in Colesport and Puerto Baño. In Mazarrón, in Haberdashery shop Antonio García, in Folder and in Muebles Reyamar and in Cañada de Gallego they can be found in the Service Station and Health Centre.   

On this occasion, as a novelty, the organization have installed bars selling drinks, tapas and dishes for concertgoers so you can dine before  the show starts, scheduled to start at 11pm. All attendees are invited to go dressed in relation to the decades in which the musical is set.


Mazarron hamlet of Los Rincones will hold until Sunday its festivities in honour of San Cayetano. The programme of events begins this Thursday, August 6, at 7 pm, with Mass at the Santuario de la Purísima before a procession to Los Rincones, where a snack will be offered to attendees.

On Friday August 7 will be the traditional proclamation, this year by Mazarrono and high school teacher, Salvador Sanchez Yepes. It will be at 9.30pm at the fairgrounds. Then there will be the election of queens, ending with a performance by the Group Sevillanas Morata and a raffle of gifts.

On Saturday, August 8, at 7.30pm, there is a display of equestrian dressage by the Ortiz brothers. At 9.30pm, dance performances by Playas de Percheles and Andrés Mendoza García. Later there will be a “migas” contest and a pinata  for gifts.

Los Rincones parties end on Sunday August 9 with a performance by Autogiro group, a pinata for gifts and closing celebrations.
