CULTURAL EVENTS INCLUDING CINEMA SCREENINGS - AUTUMN 2014


An extensive programme of activities will be offered during the Autumn by the Department of Culture of the City of Mazarrón. Its Mayor, Ginés Campillo, presented the initiative this past Thursday.
On October 2, it starts by the Storytelling Association,  La Luciérnaga. On Tuesdays it will be held at the Library of Mazarrón and Thursdays in the Library of Puerto de Mazarrón at 17:30. They end on December 18.

Cinema is one of the great attractions of the new cultural season. Every Friday the Cultural Centre in Mazarrón will host screenings for children at 6pm and classic films from 9pm. The first film project will be "The Lion King" on Oct. 3. Cinematic homage is paid to three cinema figures recently deceased: Lauren Bacall, Robin Williams and Richard Attenborough.  "Key Largo" is on October 17, "Patch Adams" on November 7 and "Gandhi" will be screened on November 28. Admission is free until all seats are filled.

On October 24, the Cultural Centre of Mazarrón will also host a literary meeting with Murcian write Jeronomo Tristante, author of best-selling novels of detective genre as "1969" and "The Mystery of Aranda House." The next day at the same place the Theatre School Teyde stage “Asamblea de Mujeres”.

Craft workshops, carol contests, guides of the libraries and reading animations complete the cultural visits scheduled by the Department during the coming months. 

NEW PROGRAMME OF SPORTS ACTIVITIES - MAZARRÓN


October 20 begins a new season of the Municipal Sports Schools. This year, the Department of Sports offers a total of 20 activities designed mostly for children and teenagers, but also has reserved spaces for adults who are interested in Sevillanas classes, pilates and fitness training.

Athletics, basketball, soccer, football, sailing, aerobics, skating, taekwondo, judo, paddle tennis, table tennis, cycling, pilates, volleyball, paddle surf and zumba are the activities on offer for children and the young . Ages, depending on the mode, range between 3 and 18 years.

The Sports Centres in Mazarrón and Puerto together with and Sports Halls of Colleges Miguel Delibes, La Aceña and La Cañadica are primarily the places where the activities will be held.


Registration began on September 19 and end on October 18 and can be found at Department of Sports, located in the Municipal Sports Pavilion from Monday to Friday from 8am to 2pm. There is a 20% discount for large families and 33% discount for people with disabilities.

RONDALLAS PERFORMANCE - SATURDAY 20TH

The Musical Group "Jara y Tomillo" from the Town of Caceres Cedillo appears on Saturday in Puerto de Mazarrón in the First Festival organized by the Councillor of Celebrations of the City of Mazarrón. This Group from Extremadura last visited our Town on August 2nd when participating in the Festival de Música del Emigrante.

La plaza de las Comunidades Autónomas in Puerto host from 9pm, a festival where also the local Rondallas perform. Earlier on Friday, 19, Mayor of Mazarrón, Francisco Garcia and Councillor of Celebration, Isidro Coy, will receive the Musical Group.
Especially rooted in Aragón, Murcia and Valencia, the music of the street musicians originated in medieval Spain. Eventually it spread throughout the Americas. Musical instruments generally used by its members are mandolins, violins, guitars, flutes, cellos, basses, tambourines, castanets and triangles.

MULTI ACTIVITY ADVENTURE COURSE


The course will run from 19 to 25 October. 60 hours is intended for athletes, nature lovers and those who love multi activity adventures. Its content will include orientation and hiking, climbing, kayaking, rafting, coasteering, paragliding and water skiing.

Training is with Siroco Aventuras. Course fee including accommodation for one week is 300€. The Youth Council provides a municipal subsidy of 30%.

Places will be allocated in strict order of registration. Siroco Adventures offer the opportunity to work as a multi-activity monitor to all who participate in the full course and have passed the practices offered by  this training activity.

"MODS & ROCKER" BIKER EVENT- PTO DE MAZARRÓN

Two bands of different aesthetics make ​​this weekend a cultural and festival event in the Paseo del Castellar. Organized by Motorkulture in collaboration with the Department of Tourism of Mazarrón the event will bring together nearly 300 bikers staying in different hotels and apartments on our coast.

The programme of activities starts on Saturday September 13 at 11am with the reception and registration at the Playa Grande Hotel. At 1pm there is a route provided for both biker gangs organized separately, according to their distinct style. The rockers will be represented by the Group Paisley Express group and the will be represented Johny's Nephew and Nifty Uncles.


Exhibitions, a market, concerts and bike show complete the other activities that will take place on Sunday September 14, as confirmed in a press conference Motorkulture spokesman, Angel Sanchez and the Councillor for Tourism, Celeste Soria, accompanied by representatives of both bands.

URGENT PLEA –PLEASE HELP

Last Saturday September 7th, two male chocolate Labradors, Benji and Dougi, sneaked out of the gate, and are now lost somewhere in the Roda, Los Alcazares areas.  These are adored family pets and not used to being out on their own.  Their canine friends are pining, and their humans are beside themselves with worry.  Can you help find them please, look in garages, outhouses, if you hold keys for neighbours who have recently gone home, check that they haven’t gone in unnoticed.  They are beautiful good natured, chipped, and castrated adult males. CHILDREN´S ACTIVITIES - 13 & 14 SEPTEMBER

The Youth Council concludes its summer offerering of five new activities scheduled between 6 and 14 September. Last weekend was river rafting with 25 participants. On 13 and 14 September sees a horse ride in Calblanque. During the same time in El Alamillo sees Watercraft and Flyboard and in La Azohía will be Wakeboard.

For the second weekend in September activities are Paragliding in Sierra Espuña and Ultralight Flights in Fuente Alamo on 13th and 14th. All activities have large discounts and information and registration can be requested on  968 591 810.

MOBILE ECOPARQUE - MAZARRON DISTRICT

A MOBILE ECOPARQUE ANNOUNCED TO PREVENT THE NEIGHBOURS DEPOSITING TOXIC WASTE IN THE STREET

The initiative has been launched in Mazarrón and will soon be extended to Puerto and districts

On Wednesday there began a mobile ecoparque circulating through the streets of Mazarrón to make it easier for citizens to dispose of pollutants often incorrectly deposited . Such products can be batteries, cell phones, fluorescent lights, appliances, etc.

The mobile ecoparque resumes activity on Wednesday September 10 with a modified schedule:

Calle Mami from 08:15 to 09:15
Plaza del Convento, from 9:25 to 10:25 hours
Municipal Sports Pavilion from 10:35 to 11:35 hours
Plaza de la Guardia Civil, from 11:45 to 12:45 hours
Avenida de la Constitución from 12:55 to 13:55 hours


It is a measure that responds to the efforts being made by the City to keep the town clean and for this, as in other campaigns, calls for citizen collaboration.

BOOK PRESENTATION - 4 SEPTEMBER



On Thursday afternoon, September 4 Mazarrón hosts the presentation of two literary works. At 19:30 hours, Carmen Laseca presents at the Library of Puerto de Mazarrón “Con todos los sentidos”, a book of poems with illustrations by the author of the text itself. This is the first literary work published by this writer native of Soria, Murcian resident and frequent vacationer in our Town. The author studied Fine Arts at the College of San Carlos of Valencia and has been teaching for 35 years, most of them practicing in the Alfonso X El Sabio Institute of Murcia.


Later, at 21:30 pm, the Cultural Centre in Mazarrón welcomes the submission of an autobiography. "Una nueva vida" by Magdalena Vivancos which tells the story of a family coping after the diagnosis of leukemia in one of her sons. The publication has been edited by Diego Marín and is available for purchase in the online store of this bookseller-publisher. The book can also be purchased in printed format in some shops of Mazarrón. 50% of the profits from the sale will be donated to the José Carreras Leukaemia Foundation. 

SPANISH CYCLING CHAMPIONSHIPS - 5-7 SEPTEMBER

Over 700 cyclists will meet in Mazarrón from tomorrow morning to participate in the Road Cycling Championships of Spain. The competition was presented on Wednesday  at the Headquarters of the Regional Government in the presence of the Director General of Sports, Antonio Peñalver and the President of the Spanish Cycling Federation, José Luis López Cerrón.
Peñalver  highlighted the importance of the test and encouraged the people o Murcia to come to Mazarrón this weekend for  "good cycling." Meanwhile, Lopez Cerrón praised the work done by the Murcia Cycling Federation for influencing  the detail for the first time in these championships which will represent  the 17 autonomous communities.
The event was also attended by the Deputy Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo and the Councillor for Sports, Andres Valera. Campillo has confirmed hotels are full in Mazarrón for competition days, which comes in handy now that the Municipality is finalizing the summer campaign.

Meanwhile, José López Tortosa, President of the Cycling Federation of Murcia, confirmed the 7 task taking place. Tomorrow sees the welcome, license verification and technical panel meetings with the coaches and the organization, so that as from Friday 5 to Sunday 7 tests that make up the League of Spain can commence. On Friday, starting at 9 am, the individual time trial will take place for both male and female category. The 15 km route linking the town of Mazarrón to Majada, going through the hamlet of Leiva. On Saturday and Sunday sees the women and master 50 and 60 have a distance of 74 km, the master 40 and senior of 87 km, senior, 30 and junior of a 116 km route which will be very similar to that made in 1989 during the Championships of Spain in professional category.  Sunday September 7th will see cyclists ascending the Cedacero and La Cuesta . The control point and final of the tests will be located in the Avenida de la Constitución of Mazarrón by the service station.

FIESTA LA MAJADA - UNTIL 8 SEPTEMBER

 The hamlet of La Majada is celebrating its festivities from August 30. Festivities will run until Monday, September 8, the date on which Mass will be sung in honour of the Immaculate Conception. For ten days residents and visitors can enjoy a broad programme of activities this year including a screening of short films made ​​by the residents of this hamlet own

A photographic exhibition will bring together old prints of this Mazarron area. The opening of the exhibition will be on Friday September 5 at 21:30 pm, shortly before the proclamation of the parties that this year is provided by Juan Moreno Morales.
