Lions Club of Mazarrón meeting for setting up a local Leo's club.

The Lions Club of Mazarrón Bahia in line with the declared aim of International Lions Clubs to assist young people to participate in their community.

We will be holding an open public meeting at the Camposol Cultural Centre on August 26th at 7pm. This will begin the public consultation process with interested young people and parents to form a LEO's Club in Mazarron.

At this meeting we want to gauge the support to develop and Guide a Leo’s club in the Mazarron area. It will require support of Parents and the willing involvement of Young People who want to help those in need. To help us plan seating it would help to know in advance some numbers please call Gina on 654874563

The Lions Club will commit to pay the initial membership fees and the club formation costs at Lions International, with some materials for participation in both service orientated work and of course a big fun element as well. It will operate within the remit of Lions International following the same major aim “To help those least able to help themselves”.

After a period of time, the young people who are members will vote for a President, Treasure, Fund raising Chair etc. This is NOT the LIONS telling people what to do, just simply guiding along the lines that Lions have operated for almost 100 years. However at all times at least 1 possibly 2 serving Lions will be in attendance and reporting back to the sponsoring club on the Leo’s progress.

The club is aimed at developing opportunities for Youth Volunteers working through the Organisation of Mazarron Lions itself a member of LCIF.

Within this project young people from 12-25 can learn to help in their community, develop leadership skills and have fun. They will be encouraged to develop SAFE communication skills in contact with other Leo Clubs world wide

EXHIBITION OF CLASSIC MOTORBIKES - AUGUST 2013, MAZARRÓN

Friday August 2 sees the opening in Puerto de Mazarrón of the exhibition "Retorno" which will have more than twenty bikes from the 50´s and 70´s, belonging to the Mazarrón restorer, Antonio Paredes. This was made public by the Council of Celebration, Isidro Coy, and the restorer himself, who will attend the opening of the exhibition  from 22:30 hours in the mall located on Avenida Tierno Galván number 35.

As explained by Antonio Paredes, "about a dozen motorcycles belonging to citizens of Mazarrón which are in perfect working order after being restored will be on display. These vehicles date from the 50s and 70s and behind each of the bikes is a story, such as 'moto del sueno'. Named so because it´s owner said he had an accident and that he had fallen asleep while driving. Hence the name. "

The Council of Celebration, Isidro Coy, commented that "this is another free activity we promote from the council to extend the range of leisure and free time. The exhibition will run until Sunday 25 August every day from 6 pm until midnight. "The Mayor encouraged residents to "not miss this exhibition" and thanked Antonio Paredes for"their collaboration so that we can enjoy these bikes that represent the work of a lifetime, as all are in perfect condition and work despite the passage the years ".
