PROCESSION - PTD DE MAZARRÓN 16 JULY

 As every year, fishermen and residents of Puerto de Mazarrón pay homage to the Virgen del Carmen. At 6pm today the la Lonja de Pescado houses Mass in honour of the “Estrella de los Mares” by the Pastor of the Church of San José, Justo José Sánchez. The event will be held with the traditional presence of civil and military authorities.

Subsequently, as is tradition the image of the Virgen del Carmen procession will be in marine waters of the Bay of Mazarrón. This year the boat that has the honour of carrying the patron is the "Cinco Hermanas II". During the course of the procession it will pay tribute to the deceased fishermen.

Back in Puerto, the Virgen del Carmen will be carried on the shoulders of fishermen to the church of San José. Thousands of people enjoy every year of this popular religious act.
