Theatre at Moratalla

On 27 February, the Mayor of Moratalla, D. Antonio Garcia Rodriguez, together with Councillors of Culture and Women, Ms. Juana Maria Blazquez Sanchez and Maria Cruz Fernandez Garcia, unveiled the Ist Theatre Contest "Estrella Gil", which will take place on Saturdays during the month of March in the Theatre Trieta. Also, the photo exhibition "MORATALLERAS" will be displayed in the Market Square of Moratalla from 8 to March 31 in commemoration of International Women's Day. This exhibition features photographs of women throughout time developing different jobs and tasks in Moratalla that until recently were seen as "masculine." Thus, the Department of Women of the City Council intends to make a tribute to Moratalla, in order to recognize its importance and contribution to the evolution and development of society for Moratalleras.

As part of the celebration of International Women's Day, on 8 March the City of Moratalla, through the Department of Culture, this year will stage the Ist Contest Theatre Contest "Estrella Gil".

The characters to be portrayed in this Contest, are merely participatory and non-competitive primarily aiming for promotion of culture through theatre and bringing together the different people involved in the event. It is intended that that event be held in Moratalla every year.
