Three famous ex-footballers fly to Spain this weekend to support Los Amigos de Mazarron FC’s 3rd Annual Gala Evening and Dinner in support of Mazarron Football Club to be held at the Hotel la Cumbre, Puerto de Mazarron on Wednesday 8th February.
Duncan McKenzie, formerly of Nottingham Forest, Leeds United, Everton, Chelsea and Blackburn Rovers is the guest speaker at the event and Tony Currie and Mark Higgins will be joining the sell out audience. Tony was an England International who played for Watford, Sheffield United, Leeds United and Queens Park Rangers and Mark had a distinguished career at Everton, Manchester United, Bury and Stoke City.
They will be joined at the Dinner by the Mayor of Mazarron, Gines Campillo Menzez, with his wife, and also the Mayoress of El Saladillo, Kelly Ensor. The President of Mazarron Football Club, Jose Rodriquez will also be in attendance. Jose has kindly donated an autographed Real Madrid shirt which will be one of the numerous items in the auction of football memorabilia.
The prestigious event is jointly sponsored by New Images of Commercial Sector B, Camposol and Ibex Insurance of Puerto de Mazarron. This will be the third year that New Images have jointly sponsored the event. Ibex Insurance Managing Director Richard Hill and Director David Whitmore are travelling up from Gibraltar and a party from the Everton Southern Spain Supporters Club are driving up from Almeria to support Duncan and Mark who played together at Everton in the late 1970’s.
As well as enjoying a four course meal in the splendid surroundings of the Hotel la Cumbre, guests will be entertained by the fabulous sounds of the Beagles and the comedy of Master of Ceremonies, Justin Sane.
Duncan McKenzie and Tony Currie will also be attending a Reception for Sponsors and VIP guests hosted by Rick and Claire Daibell at Don Ricardo’s Bar and Restaurant on Monday and playing golf in the Los Amigos de Mazarron FC Golf Society’s monthly competition at Hacienda del Alamo on Tuesday.
