MAZARRON CARNIVAL. 18th – 20th FEBRUARY

For the first time the carnival comes to Puerto de Mazarron with a parade down the Promenade

Next week comes the celebration of the Carnival, one of the most beloved festive events for the neighbours of Mazarron, which have a high participation of schools and clubs in the municipality. This year the events planned by the Department of Festivities begin on Saturday 18 February with the election, beginning at 7 pm, of the childrens “Muso” and “Musa. The election will take place in the sports hall "La Aceña".

This site will host from 9 at night the official opening of the Carnival which this year will be made by the Queen of the Festivities, Maria de los Angeles Izquierdo Alarcón. The evening will be accompanied by the orchestra "Cache".

On Sunday 19, for the first time, there will be a Carnival Parade in Puerto de Mazarron all round the promenade of the Port, starting and ending in El Rihuete on the seafront, Celebrations Councilman, Isidro Coy, has encouraged residents of the Port "to participate by joining in the parade, to share a fun morning with friends and neighbours”.

In the afternoon, from 4pm, the Mazarrón Grand Carnival Parade will take place. The parade will start next to the Aceña College and Domingo Valdivieso Institute to walk the streets Santo Tomas, La Via, Calle San Pascual, Avenida de la Constitución, Plaza del Callao and Plaza del Convento. The Fiesta will continue with good music that everyone can dance to in the marquee in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.

On Monday February 20 the Town Hall Square will host, from 9.30 pm, a Grand Masquerade Ball will take place. There will be prizes for the participants of the parade – there must be a minimum of 6 members, as well as the single most original costume. On Tuesday February 21 the marquee will host celebrations starting at 8 pm with a performance of jokes and the award for the Masquerade Ball. The dismissal of Don Carnal will put an end to the festivities this year !
