The Virgen del Cisne to be celebrated THIS SATURDAY(13 August)

Ecuador invites community residents and tourists to participate in their festivities and learn about their culture

Saturday August 13 Mazarrón Ecuadorian community celebrates its big party in honour of the Virgen del Cisne. The events begin with a peal of bells at 6 am in honour of "The Churonita" popular name known to this “Marian” image. At 9 am the doors of the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Mazarrón will open until 10 pm for those who wish to worship the image.


At 2 pm a quadrangular volleyball sporting event will be held, in both male and female categories, with the participation of the municipalities of Murcia, Fuente Alamo, Totana and Mazarrón. Two hours later, indoor football with take place and will feature teams from Totana, Lorca, Mazarron and Puerto de Mazarrón.


At 7 pm a solemn Mass in honour of the Virgen del Cisne, followed by the procession with the image of "The Churonita" through the streets of Pintor Agustín Navarro, Manuel de Falla, Mayor Juan Paredes and Plaza del Convento. The procession will be accompanied by DC Mobile Tropicana and DJ Patrick. In addition, offerings of flowers to the Virgin will take place before continuing with the festive events.


At 10.30pm at the fairgrounds in Mazarrón, the participants will be welcomed by Alberto Luis Macas, president of the brotherhood "Virgen del Cisne". Then there will be a great raffle with a prize of baked pork (donated by Galo Gonzalez and Nancy Calva), and second prize will be a surprise.


At 11.30pm there will be the presentation of the Dance Group, which consists of people from the municipality, and half an hour later the fireworks. After midnight expect performances from several artists presented by Ivan Cargua and dance that will be enlivened by the DJ.


On Sunday beginning at 2 pm, the final of the quadrangular volleyball and indoor football will take place, with awards presented at 4 pm. The festivities will end with recreational games for children and adults such as pots enchanted career sacks, chair dance, dance tomato, egg-air, greasy pole and food binges!!!

The Ecuadorian community in Mazarrón extends these celebrations to all residents and tourists who want to participate in events like this and know a little more about their culture. The kiosks installed at the fairgrounds will feature dishes from the Ecuadorian gastronomy among which include Creole chicken broth, the guinea pig Johanan, tamales, sausages, kebabs, fried pork and typical dishes of Ecuador.
