NEW WALKING ROUTES TO BE ANNOUNCED. 8 SEPTEMBER

"DISCOVERING MORATALLA"

From Moratalla, northwest of the municipality of Murcia, we invite walkers throughout the region, and why not the world, to know a land that contains well-kept secrets among its cliffs, canyons, mountains and rivers in its rugged terrain that, somehow, has influenced the character of its people and spirit of this "land border".

And its geological history tells us of ancient times, where the man was not just a project. Time passes, and these lands are home to those first men to leave the imprint of their daily struggles, fears, desires and needs in the rock art.

Time and man continues to walk with him, and their evolution bequeathed us not only their genes but also archaeological remains attest their presence and remind us, teaching us how they lived.

The mountains of the Northwest are the lungs of the region, not in vain and is the most rural, and probably as a result, has kept its natural spaces in many cases great and invaluable. The diversity of ecosystems, from the river Segura to the "roof" of the region in Sierra Seca (2015 mts pico de Los Obispos), contain a wealth of biological species, as shown by the presence of endangered ones such as otter and dipper and other important creatures such as the golden eagle, mountain goat or the Griffon Vulture. Remains of mixed forest, gallery forests, forests of juniper and maples are linked to meandering canyons, and the only mountain stream in the region, completes exceptional hiking .

Walking through these mountains, not only means doing outdoor sports. Some of the scenery is so awesome that the walker really gets to communicate our most basic instinct and gets lost to the forces of nature, reminding us that we are part of it.

We intend, through a series of excursions, visiting the places most important to publicize these places full of beauty, history and nature at its purest.

The presentation of these field trips will take place in the Auditorium of the City Council, Moratalla on 6 September at 8.00pm
