MAZARRÓN SEE REDUCTION IN UNEMPLOYMENT FIGURES

Unemployment fell in July in the town  by 153 people from the June figures.

The municipality of Mazarrón has seen a decline in July in the list of unemployed from the previous month. Specifically, unemployment fell by 153 people, going from 2472 to 2319 unemployed. This decline has been most significant among the unemployed aged between 20 and 24 years old, 41 people have found work, between 25 to 29 years, the unemployment has fallen by 31 people. Those aged  between 30 and 44 years the unemployment has fallen by 68 people.

This data is very positive when we consider that this past month at the regional level, the number of unemployed has increased in the employment offices where 233 enrolled from June. The decline in Mazarrón is due in part to the hiring of the services needed in the coastal areas getting ready for the summer months. In fact, unemployment has fallen in municipalities such as Aguilas, Los Alcazares, San Javier, San Pedro del Pinatar and Cartagena.

In regard to municipal figures over the same month last year, the figure is also positive as the number of unemployed decreased by 103 persons compared to July 2010. Quite the opposite has happened at the regional level, as unemployment had risen in the region of Murcia by 5878 people over a year ago.

In the whole country, tourism has given a slight respite from unemployment. During the month of July, the number of unemployed registered with the Public Service Employment fell 42,059 people, to account for a total of 4,079,742 unemployed. The fall, the fourth consecutive monthly responds to increased activity in summer typically in the service industry. But the supposed global recorded 171,164 unemployed people in the same period in 2010.
