PORT OF MAZARRÓN AWAITS THE EASTER CELEBRATIONS

Another year and Puerto de Mazarron awaits with intensity the ceremonies and processions of Holy Week that started on 30 March with the act of reading the proclamation by the director of CEIP "Bahia" of the coastal town, Salvador Moreno Ardil in the church of St. Joseph.

On Palm Sunday the garden “de la ermita” in the district of San Isidro is the starting point for the procession of the Palms and will begin at 12 noon. The procession will take place through the streets of San Isidro and Cartagena up to the church of San José in Puerto de Mazarron, where Mass will be celebrated this day. Dozens of children will participate in it with their parents wearing the traditional palms and olive branches.

The Puerto de Mazarron Holy Thursday procession will host the Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno which has 5 steps on his float. These are San Pedro, San Juan, la Virgen de las Penas, Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno y la Virgen de los Dolores. The procession will begin at 9.30pm and will start from the church of San José, the nerve center of these celebrations, to walk the Calles of Cartagena, Trafalgar, Progreso, Mayor, Juan Sebastian Elcano, Avda Tierno Galván, Calle Gonzalez Ballesta and Calle Mayor.

The same route will be the Good Friday procession, known as the Holy Burial. Also departing at 9.30pm and from the same place, parade goers can watch the 5 steps that make up the procession and are San Pedro, San Juan, Cristo del Perdón con la Virgen de la Soledad, el Santo Sepulcro y la Virgen de las Penas. Of particular interest is the work of the Virgin of Sorrows by the sculptor Lozano Sanchez, who serves as the Virgen de la Soledad on the night of Good Friday.
