MATCH REPORT FOR MAZARRÓN FC - 22 APRIL

Cieza 3 Mazarron 2
In a game dominated by a referee who thought that every tackle in the penalty area should warrant a penalty and that every other tackle should warrant a booking, Mazarron were very unfortunate to come away from Cieza pointless.
With seven members of the juvenile squad in the starting line-up, Mazarron turned in an excellent performance, passing the ball around well on an excellent playing surface. However, in the 7th minute came the first of several debatable penalties. Cieza had two clear shots at goal from inside the area which were well saved by Edu but to no avail, as the referee astonishingly awarded a penalty which was easily dispatched to give the home team the lead
Both sides had several opportunities before, in the 30th minute Mazarron got their just rewards when, following a free kick from Guillermo, Ahmed hit the ball against the crossbar and the ball rebounded to Dani who fired in the equalizer
Shortly after this a brilliant finger tip save by the Cieza keeper from Ahmed saw the ball hit the post and bounce clear. Mazarron´s pressure did then count when following good work down the wing Jose Da flipped the ball against a defender´s hand and the referee awarded his second dubious penalty which Jose Da put away with ease.
However, within 90 seconds Diego cleared the ball with what seemed a perfectly timed tackle but the referee awarded another penalty from which Cieza were able to level the scores at half time.
Within minutes of the restart, Edu made a brilliant save but when trying to retrieve the ball, a forward fell over him resulting in yet another penalty but this time Edu kept the ball out and the scores level. Mazarron should then have been awarded a genuine penalty but this time the referee chose not to see the incident.
The game was settled midway through the second half when the Cieza left winger cut in, beat about three defenders and scored the decisive goal from an acute angle. Mazarron continued to press for the equalizer and in the last few minutes of the game a brilliant save from the Cieza keeper denied Jose Da from scoring from 35 yards and a cross/shot from Edin only just cleared the bar.
Team: Edu, Pollo, Dani, Diego, Edin, Ahmed, Guillermo, Jose Da, Pescau (Pepsi), Matt Clarke, Dani (Jose).
Man of the match Jose Da.
