Arriving in June is a sport with a great tradition in our town of Mazarrón that attracts athletes from all over Spain and even from outside our country. It is the sport of petanca and, specifically, two Championships organized by the Club de Petanque  of Puerto de Mazarrón with the collaboration of the Department of Sports City of Mazarrón. The first of the sporting tournament corresponds to the "Dia de la Regíon" to be held on Sunday June 9 from 10 am in the petanca courts in Paseo de Rihuete, and the second of III Open Internacional de Petanca “Bahía de Mazarrón” to be held in the same place on 14, 15 and 16 June.

The citations were presented by the Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, the Mayor of Sports Council, Andres Valera, and President of Petanque Club Puerto de Mazarrón, Fernando Rosa. The latter explained that "Sunday's tournament is already a regional classic which usually involves more than 80 partners, participating in couples mode, all who wish to attend as it is not necessary to have a federal license."
