SPORTS PRESENTATION, MAZARRÓN 28 JUNE

The Hotel "La Cumbre" Puerto de Mazarrón is hosting this Friday, June 28, from 21:30pm, the celebration of the XII edition of the Sports Gala organized by the Department of Sports City of Mazarrón and the group communication "La Voz de Mazarrón". Andres Valera, Mayor of Sports, and Antonio Balanza, Director of that group, will recognize the top athletes who have excelled in Mazarrón during the last sports period. But also in this issue, "there will be a recognition for all sports clubs in the municipality for the excellent work being done in promoting and supporting sports in Mazarrón" revealed Andres Valera.

Mazarrón Town Council are delivering nine awards this year. These are for Best Local Male Athlete, Best Female Local Athlete, Best Sports Club 2012-2013, Best Sports Equipment 2012-2013, Best Promise to Dedication to Sport 2012-2013, the Legend of Sport Mazarrón, Best Event 2012-2013 and finally Best Anniversary Team.

For his part, Antonio Balanza stated that "the media group I represent and two of the regular contributors such “Agroquímicos Los Cazadores and Cafetería Portobello”, are delivering the 3 prizes for La Elegancia, a La Regularidad and  La Solidaridad en el Deporte ". In addition, the Director of "La Voz de Mazarrón" hinted that there will be some pleasant surprises during the gala.

Andres Valera also explained that "we have decided to change the location of the gala and after the awards ceremony a small cocktail will be offered to all athletes and their families who with this small gesture we thank for the important work they have done in representing Mazarrón for sport, because without their help many of our young people and athletes will have had many problems. They are also part of the success of sport in Mazarrón ".

The Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, has invited all citizens of Mazarrón to "attend this festival of sport which reward values ​​of effort, perseverance and overcoming. Values ​​that must be present in all of us, and is also an example to support our athletes getting many successes  and who are proudly carrying the name of Mazarrón to every corner. "

EXHIBITION - MAZARRÓN TOWN HALL UNTIL 6 JULY

Until July 6 at the Town Hall of Mazarrón you can visit the exhibition "anticiclon" by Mariana Sanchez, an artist who was born in Cehegín and moved to Murcia at the age of five where she lived until, for professional reasons, undertook a long pilgrimage by Spain to Chile and Portugal but in January 2012 settled permanently in Bolnuevo. The opening of the exhibition was provided by the Councillor for Culture of the City of Mazarrón, Maria Celeste Soria, and the artist who was accompanied by friends and family.

"Anticiclon" is a tribute to the Azores, one of the places in her journey, her experiences there and its people. As explained by the author of the exhibition "the mid-Atlantic and where some placed the mythical Atlantis, is the archipelago of the Azores. It is the island of Sao Miguel, where the capital of the archipelago known as the "Isla Verde", is where the great Poseidon resides with its sheet of moving clouds and strong winds, giving its sea a variety of shades and aspects, ranging from the serene shades of emerald green during the day when the sea gods sleep peacefully to bluish gray and almost black with big waves in the days of gale that show his wrath and power. "

All these powerful images come together in the Mariana exhibition which also recreate the Aegean Islands  as "meadows and forests tinged with multiple shades of green and roads that reflect the rainbow of colours of different flowers.

Councillor for Culture, Maria Celeste Soria, praised the work of the artist and her personality, "because she is intelligent, generous, brave and full of energy which exudes quality in her work." The Mayor also invited all citizens of Mazarrón to visit the Town Hall "where you can enjoy the exhibition." Opening hours of the exhibition are Monday to Saturday from 10-2pm and on Thursday and Friday from 5-8pm. The building is closed on the last Saturday of the month.

HIKING ROUTE - 29 JUNE

On Saturday June 29, the association "Alcedo" with the collaboration of the Department of Environment of the City of Mazarrón, have organized a trip to the Environmental Education Center of Caja de Ahorros del Mediterráneo (CEMACAM) located in Torreguil (Sangonera La Verde), which is going to make a "Workshop on the traditional uses of plants in the home setting," also revealing its cosmetic properties as an alternative to conventional modern industrially processed products.

Also within this activity, it will offer a walk around the Centre where members of "Alcedo" unveil the different species of flora from the Sierra de Carrascoy. To participate in the activity prior registration is necessary at a price of 10€ per person. The price includes bus transportation to the Centre, workshops and lunch to be shared among participants.

The bus will make pick ups from several points for the convenience of participants. Thus, in Puerto de Mazarrón the bus will leave at 08:00 am at the shopping area adjacent to the school "Miguel Delibes". In Mazarrón, the bus will be ready at 08:15 hours at the bus stop next to the gas station on Avda Constitucion. Finally, in Camposol the bus will depart at 08:30 am from the shopping centre car park on sector B.

Within this initiative, the programme is called "Mazarrón en Verde" and it is designed on the occasion of "World Environment Day" by the Consistory and involves ANSE, Ecologistas en Acción, Alcedo, Club de Senderismo “Amigos de la Naturaleza”, Reforestadores Mazarrón, Club de Pesca Puerto de Mazarrón, Anjupesca, Geomaza,  Buceo Hispania and Camposol “Green Fingers”.
