The Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre is having its Magical Christmas Carol Concert at the Rescue Centre on Friday, 14th of December at 6.30pm. 

Come sing with Cathy Carson and the TAABS Singers, Enjoy Mince Pies with Brandy Butter, Mulled Wine, Roasted Chestnuts, and take part in our Fantastic Prize Draw.

ACTIVITY PROGRAMME FOR THE YOUNG OF MAZARRON

The Youth Council of the City of Mazarrón has designed a leisure activity programme for the first time for young people in the municipality of Mazarrón, ie for those between the ages of 14 and 35. This was released by Youth Councillor, Andres Valera, who explained all about the workshops and activities, of which the vast majority are free.

The programme started with Laughter Therapy workshop in November that was hugely popular and therefore may take place again because of its success.  The next activity, which is free and will be held in December is a bicycle repair workshop, followed by a free First Aid course. Yoga, tai chi, reiki and male and female football completes the December programme.

The programme resumes in January with a ski trip to Sierra Nevada (Granada) at a price of €220, a free digital photography workshop and as the prominent activity, a Monitor Course in Leisure and Recreation at the price of €220  will run for three months. In this training course, a free course covering Routes and Trails will be held in March and will train future hiking instructors.

In February, a 2 day golf introduction for only €10 is taking place, and in March, a crafts workshop is planned. By April, more adventurous athletes go climbing to Alicante at the price of  €25 and those wishing to learn relaxation techniques, may go free to the Massage Workshop. A  kayak trip down the river Segura at the price of €20 complete this programme.

Said the Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, "this annual programme is a commitment to our youth, to motivate them and to offer quality programme activities,  not only to occupy their leisure time, but also to provide training.

PUBLIC LIGHTING OF MENORAH. 7 DECEMBER

SOUTHERN COSTA BLANCA JEWISH COMMUNITY

This year there is to be a public lighting of a Menorah at Playa Flamenca.

Chanukah is a Jewish festival that dates back to the year 165 BCE. At that time Jerusalem was ruled by a Syrian king called Antiochus. He looted and damaged the Temple in Jerusalem and stopped the Jews from practicing their laws and religion. This upset the Jews so much that they rebelled. The rebellion was successful and the Temple was restored to its former state. A new altar was consecrated but there was only enough oil for the altar lamp to burn for one day. However the lamp burnt for eight days and a miracle was declared by the Jewish leaders. To celebrate this miracle an eight-day observance is created ever year by lighting one candle each day in a Menorah (a special candelabra) until all eight candles are burning. The Menorah is placed in public places to remind people of the miracle.

 This year the Southern Costa Blanca Jewish Community will again be lighting the Menorah on the steps of the amphitheatre opposite the Lobster Restaurant at Playa Flamenca Beach at 7.30pm on Saturday 15^th December. The nearest road is Calle Orchideas. Following the lighting ceremony we shall be serving wine and do-nuts.
