The Department of Education
continues its work to promote culture in general, and the promotion of theatre
in particular, with two new plays that are part of the journey that the council
began last March with the celebration of "World Theatre Day", which
received an excellent reception that led many citizens to request that such
initiatives were repeated as soon as possible.
Given these requirements, Education has scheduled for Saturday July 6 the play “Espérame en el cielo... o, mejor, no” (Wait for me in heaven ... or rather, no). The performance, which will be borne by the company “Espacio Imaginado”, will take place from 10pm in the auditorium of the Centro Cultural de Mazarrón, better known as "Casa de Cultura", located in Calle Entierro de la Sardina 17 in the district of “La Aceña”. The entrance is free although places are limited.

“Espérame en el cielo... o, mejor, no” "is the story of four women of different ages and conditions but with one common characteristic: rebel fighters and their enormous capacity to love. With a good dose of humour and irony that sometimes border on the absurd, the text gets to the heart of current issues such as the consequences of the economic crisis and the hypocrisy of the ruling class, the right to education of women in all countries of the world and gender violence in its various manifestations.
Also, Saturday July 13 at the same place and same time, a second theatrical performance by the company "Laula Teatro". This time, viewers will delight in the book "El No" by Virgilio Piñera. This is the last play written by the famous Cuban playwright and, surely, will be performed with great skill by "Laula Teatro" as happened last March with “El crimen fue en Granada” (The crime was in Granada), which captivated the audience. Admission is free.
The Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, stressed that "when the celebration of World Theatre Day was held in March, citizens asked for more activities of this type, a desire we have now been able to fulfill." In addition, the Mayor pointed out that "the theatre has always had a great tradition in Mazarrón and it is our obligation to support it, more so when you are producing a cultural reemergence whereby the municipality will continue supporting and promoting new initiatives."
