27 February saw the presentation of the V Marcha Nacional Mountain Bike (MTB) de Mazarrón to be held
in the town on the weekend of 9 and 10 March. This presentation was made by the
Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, General Director of Physical Activity and Sport, Antonio
Peñalver, President of the Cycling Federation of the Region of Murcia (FCRm),
Jose Lopez, and President of Cycling Club of Mazarrón, Francisco Espinosa.
The said club, which organizes the Games with the co-operation of the City of Mazarrón, has prepared a weekend full of challenges for the cyclists who will start on Saturday March 9 with a time trial of 10 kilometers starting from the fairgrounds at 12 noon. This test, which will travel camino de Los Rincones, will serve as an appetizer to V Marcha MTB to be held the following day, Sunday 10th.
Departing at 9:30 am also from the fairgrounds, this race will consist of 58 miles and will travel much of the coast and coves of the municipality. The tour "will pass Bolnuevo and the coves to Puntas de Calnegre" said Francisco Espinosa, who recalled that" last year we had about 1,300 enrolled but this year will reduce to 1,200 to improve the safety and quality of the test ".
The Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, explained that "the conduct of the race with the time trial the day before, is the key to success for cyclists who come for the weekend to Mazarrón, so we are particularly proud of this sporting event. "
