The start of this route is a
recreational area nestled at the
edge of the Rambla de la Rogativa and in the way
of the hermitage of the same name,
also known as Camino Viejo de Zumeta. The place is
worth a visit on its own, great
oaks, large hackberry, a monumental Wild Cherry, plus vegetation of rocks and
water. The place is framed by
an area inhabited with different species of birds, and surrounded at its
base by spectacular folds.
From here we will
climb the “cenajos” by an old path that will
take us out to a road by
Peña Jarota beacon. After crossing a curious little pine reforestation of
wild pines, we arrive at the foot of the two plateaus of Peña
Jarota, and the pass that separates them, climbing first to the remains of Sabinas
negrales old stone walls of the old houses. From here we will move to the
summit along a road almost
cut out of rock and will allow you to master a very extensive landscape, of Moratalla, Letur and Nerpio and an impressive watchtower often
passed by flying large vultures, inhabitants of the rock. We will
return to the same place.
Departure at 8am from the Tourist Office
and 8.45am from El Sabinar.
Duration of approx 4 hours. 10€ and
optional 15€ for lunch.
