The Mazarrón Parish of Leiva celebrates
from Friday 14 to Sunday 16 July their Patron Saint's feasts in honour of the
Virgin of the Carmen. The celebrations however will start with several rounds
of table games in the Social Hall on Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 from 9.30pm
On Friday, July 14, at 9:50pm Juan Soler, a
neighbour of Leiva, will present his book "Con tinta de mi tintero",
which will be donated to the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC). Then
there will be a proclamation of the fiestas by Salvador Madrid. The academy of
dance "De Rosa" will put the first musical note in an evening in
which will proceed to choose queens and mister of the parties. At midnight, the
singer Raul Palomo will perform
On the night of Saturday July 15 sees Manolo
Ferré and Rocío Madrid who encourage neighbours and visitors with their
different interpretations. Raffles, a Migas competition and humor with Larry
will provide fun the evening, following a football championship in the
afternoon
On Sunday, July 16, at 9am, there is the
VII Petanque Contest and at 12pm, Holy Mass in honour of the Patroness of the
Virgin of Carmen. At the end, the plaque of honour will be handed over to the
older neighbour of the hamlet. At 2pm, paella will be served to all attendees and
later musical bingo.
The party on the Patron Saint's Day will
continue in the afternoon from 5pm with children's animations and popular
games. The dance group of Juan Antonio Iglesias will perform at 9.30pm and the
flamenco group "Al Compás" will do so at 10:45pm. They will conclude
the celebrations with the election of Miss visitor and a charity raffle.
