The History Course of Mazarrón People's University ( UPM )
propose a visit on Sunday January 19 , to the town of Cieza . Departure will be
at 8 am from the door of the old building of the UPM in Avda Constitución, Mazarrón, and
all those wishing to participate in the activity can do so for 7€ which
will include a guided visit to different places of historical and tourist
interest of the Municipality.
We are due to arrive in Cieza at 9.30am and the start of the
visit will begin with the Museum ' Molino de Teodoro ' , which is located in a
15th century flour mill and fully restored by the city of Cieza
between 1998 and 1999 , in order to convert it into a museum. It houses an
interesting collection of equipment and utensils used in the mills of the time
to undertake cleaning processes , grinding and sifting wheat for flour. The
name ' Molino de Teodoro ' was derived from the last owner and miller .
After this, at 10.30 am we will visit the Museum of Siyâsa
located in the heart of the old town of Cieza. The museum consists of four
levels nurturing a splendid sample of archaeological and ethnographic heritage
found in the Ciezano territory that invites visitors to explore the history of
the Town from the Paleolithic to the early twentieth century.
After visiting the museum, the group will head to the
vicinity of la Cueva-Sima de La Serreta whose visit will close the day . Located in
the Canyon of Almadenes , between Cieza
and Calasparra, this enclave is located in the most representative expressions
of Paleolithic rock art , Levantine and Schematic of the Region of Murcia and
are well documented , all declared World Heritage by UNESCO since 1998. The Cueva-Sima de La Serreta on the left bank of said Canyon , in a magnificent landscape visually and
virtually inaccessible from outside.
After this activity, participants may wish to attend a local
restaurant . This visit is part of the activities being carried out throughout
the year from the History Course of the UPM in Mazarrón . The initiative is
