Mazarrón FC report: Mazarrón 2 El Palmar 4

Against El Palmar, who started the game in 3rd position in the league, Mazarrón were not helped by their willingness to press the self destruct button at will and by a referee resembling a lollipop lady with fluorescent orange top and whistle to match.
However, despite this, Mazarrón led  1 – 0 at half-time thanks to a goal from Juan which came following a good run down the left by Rollon which resulted in  a corner. The flag kick caused chaos in the visiting defence and centre half, Andres, rifled the ball into the net from 20 yards.
Shortly afterward Chico was harshly booked for a tackle which appeared to be legal in all senses. This proved to be decisive later on in the game when he was booked for a second time presumably for something he said to the referee as play was nowhere near him at the time and the inevitable red card followed.
Towards the end of the half came possibly the worst decision ever seen on the ground when juvenile keeper, Ruben, collected a headed back pass and after a delay of 20 – 30 seconds the referee gave a free kick against him. Fortunately nothing came from this and half time came with the score still at 1 – 0.
The second half started with Mazarrón still holding their own and following a good run by Abdel down the wing Juan Antonio hit a cracking shot just wide of the goal. However,  after another dubious free kick, an El Palmar forward was left completely alone on the right and he met the ball on the volley to bring the scores level.
Some 5 minutes later Ruben fumbled a cross from the right and it was tapped into an empty net to put the visitors undeservedly ahead.  Mazarrón then had several good chances,  including a shot saved by the keeper’s feet when he had dived the wrong way, and another where he fell over whilst collecting a back pass only to recover just in time to hack the ball away as it was about to cross the line.
After Chico was sent off, Rollon trod on the ball in midfield and the ball broke for El Palmar to add a third goal.  Almost immediately,   Diego was caught in possession and El Palmar again broke away in almost identical fashion to make the score 4-1.
Mazarrón had the last word when a free kick was met with a powerful header into the roof of the net by Diego to make the final score 4-2 to El Palmar.
