Despite Aguieno’s higher league placing, there was little between the teams on the day and the hosts were fortunate to end up with all three points.
The pitch and most of the Mazarron fans were well watered before the game by a somewhat rogue watering system and this certainly helped the appearance of the pitch if not the fans.
Poyatos again partnered Diego at the back, but once again Robert was left to plough a lone furrow up front. However Mazarron had much the better of the opening half and had several chances to score, including a 30 yard shot from Robert which hit the bar and went over.
After several Mazarron corners had failed to produce an opening, the Aguileno keeper made a good save from one of Robert´s efforts. The score remained level at half time despite the award of a dubious free kick against Jose which fortunately came to nothing.
In the second half Aguileño came more into the game and missed what can only be described as two sitters. However, following an injury to Chico on 60 minutes, Aguileno took the lead in controversial circumstances. A Mazarron player had played the ball into touch to allow Chico to receive attention but, with everyone expecting Aguileño to give the ball back from the resultant throw in, Ivan hit the ball from almost the half way line over the top of Jose and into the net.
The game then more or less petered out and the only events of real note were the booking of Aguileño´s trainer for time wasting and the surprising introduction late on of youth team striker Habibe rather than the more experienced Edin who was left on the bench!
On the bright note there were only two bookings, Rivero and Alcaraz, neither for dissent.
Man of the match Alcaraz (2nd week running)
Team: Jose, Borja, Diego (Rollon jnr), Poyatos, Alcaraz, Juan Antonio, Chico, Rivero (Chema), Pescau (Habibe), Abdel, Robert.
