READING CLUB - 17 JUNE

On Saturday, June 17, the Cultural Centre of Mazarrón will host the II Meeting of Reading Clubs of the Network of Libraries of the Region of Murcia. The day is aimed at readers in general and reading club members. Those interested in participating must fill out the registration form available at the municipal libraries as well as at the municipal website. The meeting will have as guest the writer Luis Leante.


The programme will begin at 9:30 am and includes a visit with panoramic views of the bay of Mazarrón and a round table with the participation of Luis Leante at 17:30 hours. The meeting will be closed at 7:30 p.m.

NEW TAXI SERVICE FOR PEOPLE WITH REDUCED MOBILITY

The municipality's taxi fleet has incorporated a new vehicle adapted for use by people with reduced mobility. 

With capacity for seven seats and ramp access, the vehicle has the necessary technical elements for the transfer of passengers with special needs.

Councillor for Transport, Marisol Vivancos, confirmed recently the benefits of this new taxi and stressed the importance for the Municipality of the contribution of the service. Luis López is the owner of his license.

FREE GUIDED TOUR BY MURCIAN ARTIST 27 MAY IN MAZARRÓN

The artist from Murcia, Antonio Tapia, whose exhibition you can see in the Town Hall of Mazarrón until June 10, will offer three guided tours of his show “El Viaje de Deméter” on Saturday 27 May. The activity is free and will start at 10:30 am, with two more sessions taking place at 11:30am and 12.30pm.

Antonio Tapia exhibits in Mazarrón a display with free rein to his creativity, focusing his expression on the complexity of the human mind and choosing the figure of the woman as a generator of life and transmitter of emotions. Different plastic arts are combined in the two main rooms of a building that this year sees its 125th anniversary.

Antonio Tapia has produced more than 20 individual exhibitions and participated in numerous collective exhibitions. The Region of Murcia, Alicante, Andalucía or Madrid have hosted some of the works of this artist who has participated in international workshops given by teachers such as Pepe Lucas, Pedro Cano, Cristóbal Gabarrón and Antonio López.


The exhibition can be visited from Monday to Saturday from 10am-2pm and afternoons on Wednesday to Friday from 5pm-8pm.  On June 9 the room will be closed.

THEATRE PERFORMANCES - MAZARRÓN

The Councillor for Culture of the City of Mazarrón, Pedro Martínez and the Director of la Universidad Popular de Mazarrón, José María López presented a new edition of the Theatre Days that are traditionally organized during the month of May. 

A cultural appointment that links schoolchildren, young people and adults passionate about the scene. 
The works will be represented in the renovated hall  of Universidad Popular, Avenida de la Constitución, 65 in Mazarrón

SAN ISIDRO FIESTA, PTO DE MAZARRÓN

Concepción Aparicio, teacher at CEIP Manuela Romero of Puerto de Mazarrón and a member of Cáritas, opened the celebrations of San Isidro in Puerto de Mazarrón in an event that was attended by the Mayor of Mazarrón, Alicia Jiménez. The words of Aparicio served to announce the festivities that will continue until Sunday May 21.

During the popular "barrio dinner" in the Zaira de Bolnuevo celebratory halls, Conchi Aparicio related his experiences and coexistence with the neighbours of the San Isidro neighbourhood, remembering people very dear, and stressed the closeness and warmth of some people who make their holidays one of the most welcoming of the Municipality. 

He also had words for San Isidro, the Patron that gives their name to the place and surroundings to which the festivities are organized


Both the Mayor, Alicia Jiménez, and the President of the Festival Committee, Isidro Coy, called for the participation of residents and holiday makers during nine days of fun for all audiences, with musical performances, plays, costume contest,  Childrens shows and sporting events, among many others. 

FREE GUIDED WALK - 27 MAY



The Council for Tourism of the City of Mazarrón offers for this month of May two new routes that invite you to know the scenic beauty and history of the municipality. 

The first one took place on Saturday May 13 and the second of the free guided tours will be a route to Cala Salitrona on May 27th with an estimated duration of 3-4 hours.  

Places are restricted to 40, and registration can be made up to May 26th at the Tourist Office in Puerto de Mazarrón, by telephone 968 59 44 26 or online at www.visitamazarron.es where you can obtain more information 

PHOTOGRAPHIC CONFERENCE, MORATALLA 20 MAY

Photographer, Teacher and Author of Photography Books is at Moratalla Town Hall on 20 May at 7pm with his conference "Secrets of a Good Photo". All are welcome

MUSIC CONCERT 20 MAY, PTO DE MAZARRÓN

The Councillor for Culture of the City of Mazarrón, Pedro Martínez, presented the cultural calendar for the month of May which includes International Museum Day. 

To commemorate this date, the Department of Culture of the City Council of Mazarron has programmed an activity called "El Museo en tu Cole", which will teach students in the area about the archeological wealth of the Museo Factoría Romana de Salazones de Puerto de Mazarrón

The programme "El museo en tu cole" will be held from Monday 22nd to Thursday 25th of May at Manuela Romero, Bahía, Siglo XXI, La Cañadica, Infanta Leonor, Francisco Caparrós, Ginés García, La Aceña, San Antonio and Unitary School of Leiva.


Also, on Saturday, May 20 at 9:30 pm, Museo Factoría Romana de Salazones will host a concert by the duo "Regalices".

LIBRARIES OPEN SATURDAY FOR STUDENTS


The Department of Libraries of the City of Mazarrón announce study rooms are now available every Saturday from May 13 to July 8, with the aim that students of the Municipality have greater facilities to prepare for their final exams


The classrooms are available in the Cultural Centre of Mazarrón from 9am-2pm and from 4pm-9pm

TRIP TO WESTERN ANDALUCIA - JUNE

The Pensioners and Retirees Club of Mazarrón has organized a trip to Western Andalucia scheduled between June 15 and 18. 

You will visit Seville and Huelva where you will get to know the most emblematic places of both Provinces. Those interested can reserve a place from 8 May

Itinerary of the trip:
 1st Day: Mazarrón-Seville, with a visit to: the Cathedral, the Giralda and Los Reales Alcázares, before continuing the trip to Huelva where you get a free afternoon visiting the City.

Day 2: Visit Aracena where you can admire its walls, churches and la Gruta de las maravillas (Optional), then visit el Santuario de la Virgen Reina de Los Ángeles, in the  “Peña de Arias Montano”. In the afternoon continuing to the mines of Riotinto that can be seen from the Cerro Colorado, visiting the Mining Museum and the Barrio Ingles (Optional).

3rd Day: Transfer to Vila Real de Santo Antonio in Portugal, with a visit to its great market where you can buy typical products from that country. In the afternoon a visit to the Sanctuary of the Virgen de la Cinta, and at sunset a panoramic walk through Huelva.


4th Day: Visit to the Sanctuary of the Virgen del Rocío with a “Rociero Mass” for those who wish to attend. In the afternoon returning to Mazarrón. "

WHAT'S ON ALHAMA - 1 TO 7 MAY 2017


You will find plenty of activities related to THE Fiesta de los Mayos (rag dolls, parade, concerts, artisan market....)

Remember that all the concerts have free admission, even the ones held in the Custom Motorbike Gathering venue, although the capacity is limited.

EXHIBITION - MAZARRÓN

The artist Antonio Tapia will exhibit his work at Casas Consistoriales, until June 10. Under the title “Las Edades de la Vida: El Viaje de Deméter”, the painter from Murcia brings to Mazarrón an exhibition that unleashes his creativity, focusing his expression on the complexity of the human mind and choosing the figure of the woman as a generator of life and transmitter of emotions. 

Different plastic arts are combined in the two main rooms of a building that in this year 2017 sees its 125th anniversary.

The Region of Murcia, Alicante, Andalucía and Madrid have hosted some of the works of this artist who has also participated in international workshops given by teachers such as Pepe Lucas, Pedro Cano, Cristóbal Gabarrón and Antonio López.


The exhibition will be inaugurated on Friday, May 5th at 8:30pm. You can visit in the mornings between Monday and Saturday from 10am to 2pm, and in the afternoons from Wednesday to Friday between 5pm and 8pm. On 22 May and 9 June, the exhibition is closed.

CHARITY RACE - 3 MAY

The association "Forget me Not" organises, in collaboration with the City council of Mazarrón, its popular charity race in the Camposol 
urbanization today from 8pm starting at Avda de los Covachos (Sector B) . 

The inscriptions can be formulated at the time of the event and through the Department of Sports, located in the Municipal Pavilion of La Aceña.

It is a race open to all the public with a route of 2 kilometers that will run through the streets of the urbanization. There will be trophies for the top three in the men's and women's category.

In previous editions the association "Forget Me Not" has raised different economic amounts that has been destined for social aid purposes.


Its organizers are waiting for the collaboration of citizens and re-iterate that it is not necessary to pre-register.

CAMPOSOL FIESTA - MASKED BALL EVENT



This event on 24 June is now being held at Le Carrousel Restaurant in Pto de Mazarrón and no longer at Amapola Restaurant in Bolnuevo

Tickets are 30€ which includes a 3 course meal, cava and appetiser on arrival, wine and water during the meal and features Diva Motown Legends Show by Charlie
