MOUNTAIN DRIVING COMPETITION - 7 MAY
Next Sunday, May 7, Mazarrón returns to the longest test of
the car calendar in the Region of Murcia.
The arrival of more than 30 drivers
are expected to participate in the 35 Subida Automovilística Playas de de
Mazarrón, a competition that takes place on the RM 332, the road that links the
municipality with Cartagena, passing through Tallante.
The best mountain drivers, including the national champion
Raul Borreguero, will meet in Mazarrón to compete in one of the classic
competitions in this category.
The drivers will complete four stages, with a
distance of 5 kilometers.
The presentation of the vehicles taking part will take place
on Saturday May 6 in El Alamillo (Café Buenavista), from 5pm. The trophies will
be delivered at the same venue on Sunday at around 2:30 p.m.

JULY MUSIC CONCERTS IN PTO DE MAZARRÓN
This summer to be repeated in Mazarrón is "El
Muelle Music Festival" whose second edition will take place on the fishing
pier of Puerto de Mazarrón between 20 and 22 July.
The agenda of concerts was presented at the Royal Casino of Murcia by the Mayor of Mazarrón, Alicia
Jiménez, accompanied by the Councillor of Festivals, Patricio Sánchez and
Antonio Murcia, responsible for AK Productions, together with artists Carlos
Vudú and Ricardo Ruipérez,
Patricio Sánchez presented the programme of the festival
that will begin on July 20 with the performance of Siempre Así and El Luiso, a
Mazarrón artist who participated this year in a well-known television
programme.
On July 21 will be the turn for Duo Dinamico and on July 22 will see performances by M-CLAN, Rosendo, Los Zigarros and Carlos Vudú. All the concerts will be at
10.30pm and will be held on the esplanade of the fishing pier of Puerto de
Mazarrón.
On July 19 there will be a concert dedicated to the
children's audience with the performance of "La Patrulla Canina", as
reported by Antonio Murcia of AK Productions. Tickets can be purchased on the
Internet, at the authorized points of sale and at the Tourist Office of Puerto
de Mazarrón.

SKATE DAY - 16 APRIL - PUERTO DE MAZARRÓN
After the
success of the first year, it is organised again for the next Sunday of
Resurrection (popularly known as "Domingo de Mona" on 16 April) an
event called Skate Day.
Routes, exhibitions and games will give the opportunity
for the family to spend a day practicing skating along part of the coast of the
Municipality. The activity, to benefit the Spanish Association against Cancer
(AECC), was presented by Sports Councillor, Patricio Sánchez, along with
officials of the Mazarrón Patina club.
Patricio
Sánchez encouraged all the family to enjoy an activity that last year saw 200
participants take part and this year will see collaboration from the local
cycling club “El Esollon”, whose members will act as volunteers in the
development of the route.
The route
will start at 10:30am in the Rihuete and will continue along the bay until
reaching Bolnuevo. In Playa Grande (about 11:00 hours), a stop is scheduled
next to the children's area where games will be developed for younger
participants, while the participants continue to march up to 16 kilometers.
The
arrival at the Paseo Marítimo de Puerto de Mazarrón is estimated after noon.
From that moment, in the Plaza de las Comunidades Autónomas , there will be an
exhibition of skating, children's activities, gymkana, paella for all attendees
and different raffles, as informed by Patricia López, a member of the Mazarrón
Patina club.
MARINER'S MARKET, PUERTO DE MAZARRÓN. 13-16 APRIL
The Plaza Toneleros
of Puerto de Mazarrón will host a Marinero Market from 13 to 16 April. More
than 45 craft exhibitors will offer their products from Holy Thursday to Easter
Sunday. The event that accommodates the local artisans coincides with one of the
most visited tourist holidays of the year in Puerto de Mazarrón, in a renovated
Plaza frequented by passers-by.
This
activity was presented by the Councillor of Festivals, Patricio Sánchez, in the
company of the Councillor for Tourism, María Ángeles Román and the Head of the Mercados
Arlekin, Juan José Martínez.
The market
will be completed with a schedule that will be repeated every day. So at 12pm
and 6pm, there will be a parade with music and animation. At 8pm sees a musical
performance and at 11pm are parades and a night fire show. A children's corner
is available throughout the business hours for the little ones to enjoy.
Patricio
Sanchez encouraged everyone to visit this market, an attraction for all the
public that seeks to make Mazarron a place of enjoyment during these days.
10KM WALK IN MORATALLA - 23 APRIL
On April 5,
Mayor Candi Marín, the Councillor for Tourism, Environment and Sports of
Ayuntamiento Moratalla City Council together with the organizers of the VI
Rural Race and Calar de la Santa Hiking, presented this sporting activity to be
held on 23 April in the hamlet of El Calar de la Santa.
A race of
10 km that will run through one of the most attractive places of the town, in a
natural environment of great interest and reference for rural tourism. It will
be a race in which everyone who wishes can practice sport in a healthy way in
an extraordinary natural environment, starting at 10.30am in Plaza del Pueblo
Inscriptions

of the race, the organization invites everyone to eat in the sports hall of El
Calar de la Santa.

CHILDRENS ACTIVING - FRIDAY 17TH APRIL
The Municipal Library Network of Mazarrón has scheduled a
new activity aimed at children aged 8 to 12 years.
It is a Workshop of Tricks
and Magical Experiments that will take place first Thursday, April 6 in the
library of Puerto de Mazarrón and on Friday, April 7 in the library of
Mazarrón, both days from 17:30.
The activity is free and has a maximum of 20
participants. Entries can be made at each of the municipal libraries.
WALKS AROUND MAZARRÓN DURING APRIL
The Council of Tourism of the City of Mazarrón offers for
this month two new routes that invite you to know the scenic beauty of the Bay
of Mazarrón.
The first of them will take place next Saturday April 15. It will
be a family trekking route through Cabo Tiñoso and the military battery of
Castillitos from where you can see one of the most spectacular views of the
Mazarron coast. With a duration of 4 hours, it has a limit of 40 places and the
registration period remains open until April 14
The second of the guided tours for this month will be held on April 29. It will be a visit
of 4 hours and a half between Percheles and Puntas de Calnegre, a stretch of
virgin coast that maintains its natural state, passing by the beach of
Palazuelos and Los Cloques. It will have 4 hours and a half, with a limit of 40
places and a registration period that will remain open until April 28.

EVENTS IN APRIL - MAZARRÓN
The Municipal Network of Public Libraries of Mazarrón, a
subsidiary of the Department of Libraries, has developed an extensive programme
to encourage reading coinciding with the month in which World Book Day is
celebrated. Activities for all ages will focus on this objective, including
novelties such as free workshops of magic tricks and experiments and the
activity "The Library goes out to the street". This programming will
be continued in May with a special tribute to the famous author of
"Matilda", Roald Dahl.
April begins with visits to the libraries of the schools,
the open classrooms and the Alzheimer's Unit.
Also one of the main novelties of
this year will be the Free Workshops of Magic Tricks and Experiments, an activity
directed to readers from 8 to 12 years with a maximum of 20 participants. It
will take place in the Library of Puerto de Mazarrón on Thursday, April 6 at
17:30 and in the Library of Mazarrón on Friday, April 7 at the same time.
Entries can be made in both libraries.
Another novelty of the spring reading of 2017 will be the
activity "The Library goes out to the Street", carried out on
Tuesday, April 18, in the Plaza Toneleros in Puerto de Mazarrón and on
Wednesday, 19 April in the Garden of La Purisima in Mazarrón from 16:30 to
19:30 hours.
The selected students will have, on Thursday, April 20 at 20:30
hours in the Cultural Centre, a new opportunity to improve what they have learned
and to prepare for their exams by access to the University with the conference
"Generatcíon del 98", being taken by Vicente Cervera, professor of
Hispanic American Literature. This conference gives continuity to the one made
by Carmen María López on March 30 and which dealt with the Generation of 27.
Storytelling, Cinema in the Library, Bibliopatio in Puerto
de Mazarrón and crafts workshops in both public libraries complete the
programming of the month of April.
In May it will be the turn to pay homage to the celebrated
Welsh writer Roald Dahl, author of "Matilda". For this, the students
of the different educational centres will perform a theatrical performance on
May 4 and 5 in the Cultural Centre, starting at 20.00 hours.
On May 5 sees the awards + Children's Reader, + Adult Reader
and the photographic contest "We Like to Read". It will also be from
20:00 hours at the Cultural Centre.
Finally for May 18, the Municipal Library Network has
organized an trip to the Teatro Guerra de Lorca to attend the play “La
velocidad del Otoño” performed by Lola Herrera and Juanjo Artero. Entries for
this activity can be made in the libraries of Mazarrón and Puerto de Mazarrón
