Programme of events at Mazarrón libraries


The Department of Libraries of the City of Mazarrón has scheduled for this April a broad programe that includes fifteen events, one particular one which stands out is a novelty Creative Writing Workshop for Adults which has the support of Jerónimo García Jorquera .
The workshop will take place on 18, 21, 25 and 28 April. It is an activity in addition to the Photo Contest "We like to Read", now in its third edition and which is aimed at students in secondary schools in the Municipality. This contest will award the three best shots with 300, 200 and 100 euros.
Registration for the Creative Writing Workshop can be done in the libraries of Mazarrón and Puerto de Mazarrón until 14 April and work for the Photo Contest can be delivered, also in both libraries, until 26 April. The awards ceremony will be on April 29 at 20:00 pm in the Cultural Centre.
The programme was been presented by Councillor of Library, Patricio Sanchez and the head of the Municipal Archives, Magdalena Campillo. The start of events is scheduled for April 14 with the opening of the exhibition "Curious Books and Curiosities Neglected". It will be at 6pm  in Puerto de Mazarrón and at 7pm in Mazarrón. The exhibition will remain open until 20 May.
The week in which the World Book Day is commemorated is this year made more special by the celebration of the fourth centenary of the death of Cervantes. On Tuesday 19 April, Professor at the University of Murcia, Keith Gregor, will give a lecture entitled "Shakespeare Today". It will be at the Cultural Centre from 8pm. On Friday 22, Javier Hervas presents his book  “El fantasma de tu abrazo”   ("The Phantom of your embrace.") It will be at 8.30pm in the Auditorium of the Cultural Centre.
In recognition of World Book Day, the Department of Culture have created a book exchange programmee. In both libraries a space has been allocated for users to deposit the books they no longer want and choose others which have been deposited by others. This is an activity to promote reading, which seeks the involvement of citizens. Furthermore, on Saturday April 23 at the headquarters of the Antigua Universidad Popular, the theatre group "Tramoya" will perform the play  “Don Quijote y el Genio de Cervantes”. Admission is free and will be staged twice – at 6pm and again at 8pm.
On Tuesday April 26, at 8.30pmat the Cultural Centre will be held the meeting with the author Blue Jeans. On Wednesday April 27, Ricardo Esvay, professor at the University of Murcia, presents the conference "Cervantes y el mar". It will be at 8pm in the auditorium of the Cultural Centre.
Programming libraries end with craft workshops, performances, dramatic readings and activity "Teatro de Carmen".
