Help at Home, have been successfully helping clients for the past 5 years, 500+
clients helped and thousands of FREE hours have been put in by our volunteers.
However, when
we started our intention was to help people struggling following illness,
hospital treatment etc for a SHORT
TIME, not for either replacing hospital or medical treatment, nor for
long term treatment.
Unfortunately,
we have many clients who need ongoing treatment, probably for the rest of their
lives, and with the best will, we cannot offer this. We do not have enough
volunteers to cope, and therefore we have to limit time per client to 3 months when the situation will be
reviewed.
So many people
do not make adequate provision for old age, which is inevitable, do not have
sufficient funds to pay for help, do not want to go in a home, nor go back to
the UK, so ask us for help, which we always try to do. However, it has now reached the situation
whereby we cannot take on any more long term clients, and will have to refuse
requests for this.
We always do
our utmost to help, but it really is everyones’ responsibility to ensure that
they have the funds available to cope with these situations, and also to have
funeral plans in place.
