NEW PROCESSION ANNOUNCED FOR EASTER MONDAY - MAZARRON

Holy Week in Puerto de Mazarrón extends this year its timetable of ceremonial events with the celebration of a Via Crucis which will take place on Easter Monday starting at 9.30pm. At that time the image of Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno will start from the fish market to be met by Santísima Virgen de los Dolores who leaves the Church of San José. This news was announced by the local Priest, Justo José Sánchez for whom it is a different processions event, "thus providing a time for prayer and deep meditation for Pasión del Salvador” , said Justo José Sánchez who invited the residents of Puerto de Mazarrón to come with candles to illuminate this event.

This news was announced after Mass on Ash Wednesday, held in the Church of San José de Puerto de Mazarrón. In a ceremony attended by the Mayor of Mazarrón, Francisco Garcia, and the Councillors  of Culture and Celebrations, Ginés Campillo and Isidro Coy, President of the Council of Guilds Francisco Muñoz Osuna,  and the name of the Nazarene preacher for this year was announced . Distinctions were awarded to the Director of la Voz of Mazarrón, Antonio Balanza, and Confrade Aurora del Olmo, respectively. Balanza will read his proclamation on March 27.

In a close-up image, Christo Nazareno is seen supporting the weight of the Cross, and secondly sees the Virgen de los Dolores showing her worth as a mother  seeing the suffering of her son.

The event was closed by Ginés Campillo Councillor for Culture and the Mayor of Mazarrón, Francisco García who asked the guilds to continue working to keep Easter alive and urged citizens to take to the streets as they have done previously, to live these days with faith and passion, both from the religious sphere and from the point of view of a cultural event.
