RADIO CLUB MAZARRON COMPETITION



This weekend Amateur Cultural Association "Costa Blanca" (ACRACB) moves from Alicante to Mazarrón  to hold a conference in the International Amateur Competition "Castillos de España". The said association, in collaboration with the Radio Club Mazarrón and the City through the departments of Tourism and Heritage, will be operating  at Castillo de los Vélez y la Torre de los Caballos to carry out this contest.

Specifically, this Saturday 22 September will be at Castle of Vélez  from 9 to 1pm, and Sunday 23 will be at Torre de los Caballos at the same time. For this initiative stations and antennas installed in these locations that operate  “hams” in Mazarrón and Murcia, are expected to make 1000 contacts with other “hams” in Spain and other parts of the Mediterranean.

The Radio Club Mazarrón invites all citizens to approach the historical monuments to discover how the competition unfolds and how connections are made between different “hams”. The initiative took place a few days ago from the Torre de Santa Isabel in La Cumbrewhere they made more than 250 contacts in just two hours. It is also expected soon to be operable from the Molinete and el Castillo del Calentín.

After 18 years of the establishment of the Diploma Castles of Spain (DCE), the Amateur Cultural Association "Costa Blanca", in collaboration with the Diploma Castles of Spain, has aired this new release entitled "DCE 1.0". A version "modern and suited to our times. With innovation and change and whose purpose is to promote our history, castles, fortifications, towers, lookout, etc " said a spokesperson from ACRACB.



BOLNUEVO TRIATHALON





On 16 September the I Triathlon "Villa de Mazarrón" Championships was held in Bolnuevo with the participation of 14 autonomous communities and the Autonomous City of Melilla with up to 200 athletes. The only communities failing to attend were Cantabria, La Rioja, Valencia and Ceuta. The test took place in a gorgeous day of over 30 degrees and calm and clear waters for the triathletes.

Galicia was the region that eventually won the general classification. Catalonia were second on the podium and the Community of Madrid, finished third. The championship was very exciting as the men's race was won by the team from Catalonia, followed in second place by Galicia and Castilla La Mancha in third place, while in females category Galicia was followed by Catalonia in second place and Madrid taking third.

Despite the closeness of the championship, Galicia showed a good command of this sport as the overall winners in men and women were athletes representing this community. The men's race was won by Jesus Gomar García  followed by Isaac Lopez Carrion second and Ricardo Hernandez Marrero canary in third. In the females category three Galician triathletes took a clean sweep of the podium.
These were Marta Jimenez Jimenez, Aida Valino Gomez and Melina G. Alonso Aradas.

The trophies and medals were presented close to the erosions of Bolnuevo and was attended by the Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, the General Director of Physical Activity and Sports, Antonio Peñalver, President of the Spanish Triathlon Federation, José Hidalgo, President of Triathlon in the Region of Murcia, Diego Calvo, and councilors Andres Valera and Miguel M ª García.

The test took place without incident and had a great attendance by Civil Defense and Red Cross. The first provided one van, two all-terrain vehicles, 1 assistant and 4 volunteers, while Red Cross deployed two ambulances SVB, 3 rescue watercraft, 1 rigid inflatable rescue, 4 kayaks, 3 terrain vehicles, one van  and 38 volunteers to cover security, rescue and health care. The Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, wanted to express his thanks for  "the excellent work carried out by Red Cross and Civil Protection living up to the demands of this important sporting event."

The Mayor also wanted to acknowledge the work of the volunteers of Club Deportivo "Bahia Mazarrón" and the Club Ciclista Mazarrón who also showed "great professionalism and commitment to the organization of this successful triathlon. We have shown that together we can do great things. " Other thanks went to Aguilas and Fuente Alamo who contributed material for the smooth running of the championship. The test is one more that is born under the commemoration of the 440 anniversary of the granting of the privilege of Villa and is "set to become a first class event in the sporting calendar  made under the umbrella of the 440" .

MAZARRON TRIATHALON - SEPTEMBER 2012



This Sunday September 16 a new sporting event of Mazarrón will be held, that begins its journey under the commemoration of the 440 anniversary of the granting of the privilege of Villa. This time it comes from I Triatlón de las Comunidades Autónomas “Ciudad de Mazarrón”to be held on the beach and promenade at Bolnuevo and by the road between the popular fishing village with Mazarrón at the foot of the Las Moreras mountains.

The sporting event will bring together more than 200 athletes representing 15 regions and the autonomous city of Melilla. The men's race, in which 8 athletes will be competing from each Region will start at 10 am, while the womens, also 8 per autonomy,  will begin at 12 noon. This consists of a 750 metre swim, a bike race between Mazarrón and Bolnuevo of 20 kilometers and finally a run along the seafront of Bolnuevo of 5 kilometers.

Sports Councilman Andres Valera, stressed that "this test has been organized by the City of Mazarrón and I must also acknowledge the support of the consistory of Fuente Alamo and Aguilas and by providing logistical material to carry it out." The meeting "will be the start of triathlons that will take place as a new challenge in the sporting calendar of the municipality". The President of the Federación Murciana de Triatlón, Diego Calvo, has very high hopes that "the first edition of Mazarrón joining this sport will see a successful turnout."

The Mayor also thanked “the volunteers of Club Deportivo Bahía de Mazarrón and del Club Ciclista Mazarrón in helping to develop the test, and Frutas Arias Mazarrón for providing fruit juices and fruits to the participants". For the smooth conduct of the event, the Bolnuevo road will be closed to traffic between 10:15 and 10:45 hours for the men's event, and between 12:15 and 12:45 hours for the womens, so it is requested that citizens make use of alternative routes for getting around the town as much as they can.

The Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, said that "this new event adds to a fuller sporting calendar and more activities in the history of Mazarrón, so thank the various clubs that are showing involvement to perform class sporting events that are proving successful and that are making the  municipality of Mazarrón one of diverse disciplines. An encouraging trend will continue over the coming months linked to the promotion of our town to the outside. "

BEWARE OF SUSPECTED CAT POISONINGS

We have been informed by a reliable source that it appears a number of cats have been suffering a slow and painful death which has been brought about by suspected poisonings on Camposol "A".

Please be aware of this and keep an eye on your cat in case of demonstrating any unusual symptoms.

PETANQUE CHAMPIONSHIP - 15 SEPTEMBER

Petanque facilities in the district of La Cañadica plays host on Saturday September 15th to the championship “Primeras 12 horas regionales de petanca diurna” organized by the Club de Petanca Mazarrón “Costa Cálida” and with the collaboration of the City of Mazarrón. This was announced by  the Councillor for Sport, Andrew Valera, Vice President of the Club, Francisco Ortiz, and its treasurer, Antonio Lobo.

The Games "will begin at 9 am and participants can enjoy a meal in a day that will be full of fun," said the Mayor of Sports. 14 teams are expected to attend  from the region including those from Murcia, Cartagena, Lorca, Alhama, Totana, Aguilas and Torres de Cotillos, and among those 4 are from Mazarrón.

As the Vice President of the club, Francisco Ortiz said "there will be prizes for the top four and we are hoping to get a youth team that has participated in the Championship of Spain." The tournament will take place in the form of triplets and including athletes and family, about 70 people are expected to attend.

The Treasurer of Club de Petanca Mazarrón “Costa Cálida” , Antonio Lobo, thanked everyones support "because without them we could not have undertaken this sporting event." Lobo also welcomed the co-operation provided by  Mazarrón Town Council for  in addition to providing  the trophies, have supplied some details that will be given to participants and will take care of the infrastructure to be deployed in the Cañadica.
