It was a case of déjà vu on Sunday when, with Mazarron, a goal to the good against a poor team, they attempted to protect a slender lead instead of going for the kill with the usual result.
With a string of injuries and suspensions Mazarron were forced into numerous changes, with Pepe at right back, Robert as captain and Alcaraz and Rollon jnr in the centre of defence.
Despite this, most of the early chances fell to Mazarron with shots from Pescau and Rivero being blocked and Robert causing confusion in the visitor’s defence on a regular basis. Once, he was hacked down just outside the area but nothing came from the free kick.
However from a quickly taken throw in from Pepe, Robert powered his way down the wing and his cross was superbly put away on the volley by Guillermo in the 37th minute.
At this stage Mazarron were well on top but no further goals came in the first half. After the interval, Mazarron once again went onto the defensive and after a booking for Pepe, from the resultant free kick the ball was driven along the ground and apparently through the wall into the net.
Shortly afterwards the visitors had a further free kick which somehow stayed out of the net but this only postponed the inevitable. Robert was booked for dissent, following which Mazarron ground out a couple of chances with Robert forcing a good save following a run and cross by Rivero.
However, a further free kick saw Cieza break away and score the winning goal, sending Mazarron into the bottom two in the league.
