Mazarrón FC report: Thader Murcia 2 Mazarron FC 0
This bottom of the table encounter started disastrously for Mazarron when Jose missed a simple tackle and gave away a corner. This corner was met with a towering header by the Thader centre half to give Thader the lead after just 1 minute and 45 seconds.
After 18 minutes Mazarron’s task became even more difficult when attacking winger Pepe crashed to the ground with a recurrence of a thigh strain and was replaced by the juvenile’s captain, Pescao.
Thader continued to test the Mazarron goal and on 23 minutes Ruben pulled off a fine save to prevent the home team going further ahead. Shortly afterwards a mix up between Jose and Ruben left an open goal which the Thader striker somehow missed. Jose and Diego were booked and then,
as the first half came to an end Edin, once again working as a lone striker, was pulled down when clean through.

Five minutes after the half time break, Jose’s day got even worse as he received a second yellow card and his marching orders for a deliberate handball. Strangely this seemed to spur the team on and a fine attempt by Alfonso was saved.
Mazarron’s young English full back, Matt Clarke, who was outstanding in the first half, then pounced onto a loose ball and after a one-two put the ball into the path of Edin but, with only the keeper to beat, his mistimed shot went wide.
After 62 minutes Edin fired the ball across the face of the goal from the right which only required a touch but it missed the far post by inches.
In the 76th minute Thader increased their lead when, from a hotly disputed corner kick, the ball was drilled home from the edge of the penalty area.

Mazarron’s woes continued when Abdel had to be substituted in the last few minutes following a nasty tackle and five yellow cards plus Jose’s double yellow did nothing to improve Mazarron’s appalling disciplinary record.

ACASA Christmas Appeal
ACASA launches Christmas appeal for money to help Brits in need
ACASA – The National Casework Service of Age Concern España – has launched a campaign to ask expats in Spain to give what they can this Christmas to help Britons who have hit hard times. The charity is hoping to raise at least 50,000 euros to support its work, helping the less fortunate in the British community.
The charity has two client bases – people over the age of 50, and those of any age who serve or used to serve in the British Armed Forces, and their families, as ACASA does the work of SSAFA Forces Help in Spain. It helps people overcome problems of poverty, isolation and illness, and assists them with better mixing into the Spanish way of life. It also helps them access benefits and support, and works to identify charitable grants.
Kim Stollard of ACASA said “One of the best presents anyone can give is help for people less fortunate than themselves. We welcome gifts of any size, whatever people feel they can afford, to help people who need advice and help on living in Spain, or about returning to the UK. Our seventy plus volunteers receive four or five new cases of hardship every week, and hundreds of enquiries a year, and Christmas donations will help us keep up the good work in the New Year.”
Recently the charity helped a lady with mobility issues source funds to purchase a mobility scooter. She told us the that the scooter she has named ‘Nellie’ has changed her life because she can now go out with her dog or go shopping on her own.
“We could never have done it without the generous help of the British community. A Christmas donation, whatever its size, will help someone else who is in distress. It´s easy to donate just go to our website www.acespana.org and press the ‘donate’ button or contact us at 902 00 38 38 or CCM@acespana.org.”

Mazarrón FC report: Los Garres 5 Mazarron FC 3
With seven first team regulars missing through injury and suspension, it was always going to be tough for Mazarron in this relegation battle. There were six members of the juvenile squad in the starting line up but this was no excuse for the appalling performance in the first 30 minutes which saw the home side take a 3-0 lead and leave the Mazarron players once again looking totally dispirited.
For the eighth away game in a row, Manager Agustino continued his policy of playing a lone striker. Perhaps after obtaining just one point in these eight games, the penny will finally drop. If not, the consequences for the manager and the team will be dire.
After a quiet opening twenty minutes, Los Garres scored three times in a period of just 15 minutes. The first, a shot from outside the box which should have been closed down by Diego, the second another shot from outside the box which seemed to take a deflection and the third when a through ball split the static Mazarron defence.
Then, just three minutes before half time, Diego junior slipped the ball past the last defender and ran 30 yards leaving three Los Garres players in his wake before slipping the ball under the advancing keeper to make the score 3-1. A minute later, Diego senior had the ball in the net but the referee had already blown for an infringement. The first half drama was not over, however, as Edin was blatantly pushed in the penalty area but the referee waved play on , eventually booking Edin for either diving or dissent.
Alcaraz, who was inexplicably named as substitute, replaced Dani at half time and Mazarron were back in the game after 48 minutes when Diego powered a free kick into the roof of the net. Los Garres increased their lead two minutes later when Ahmed unfortunately turned a cross into his own net but Mazarron then came back into the game with a spell of sustained pressure. Both Diego junior and Diego senior shot just wide before Edin reduced the arrears when he ran on to Juan Antonio’s through ball to make the score 4-3.
The games was settled in the 75th minute when a corner was fumbled by Ruben and the ball bundled into the net to make the final score 5-3 to Los Garres.
Mazarron deserve credit for the second half fight back but some serious action is needed to halt the club’s alarming slide.
Team: Ruben, Jose, Diego, Ahmed, Matt Clarke, Alfonso (Habibe), Juan Antonio, Jouad (Ismael), Diego jnr, Dani (Alcaraz), Edin

Mazarrón FC report: Mazarron 1 Puente Tocino 1
(Abandoned due to Floodlight failure)
Once again a much changed Mazarron team struggled against opponents who seemed to be no better themselves. Included in the changes was the appearance of Ruben in goal for Peru who was injured in the warm up.
The only things of note in the first half were a booking for Rollon jnr for no apparent reason, a shot from Diego jnr which went narrowly wide, and a shot from distance by Pepe which was easily saved by the keeper.
At the start of the second half, Ruben came out to meet a through ball and only succeeded in heading it to an attacker who fortunately put his effort wide. Shortly after this a slip from the visitors keeper put pressure on them but after a scramble in the area a foul was given for a tackle on him by Pescau the smallest player on the pitch.
After 70 minutes, in the gathering gloom, the visitors took the lead from the penalty spot, following which Chico was booked.
Edin was then introduced from the bench and Mazarron began to play better. Edin’s perserverance and pace down the right wing won the ball and his cross into the middle was met by Alfonso who hit the equalizer.
Shortly after this Edin ran onto the ball following a defensive mistake but with the whole crowd standing to acknowledge a goal, the ball hit the inside of the post and rolled to safety.
After what can only be described as a viscous assault by a defender on Diego jnr, for which the referee only awarded a free kick, Pepe was sent off, presumably for telling the referee what most of the crowd thought of him.
Well into injury time the Chico was given a second yellow card for a tackle from behind reducing Mazarron to nine men. The drama was not over though, as almost immediately, the floodlights went out and, after a wait of several minutes with the ground in complete darkness, the game was abandoned.
Man of the Match: Edin.
Team: Ruben, Jose, Diego, Rollon (jr), Max, Chico, Diego (jr) (Ahmed), Pescau (Edin), Juan Antonio, Alfonso (Dani), Pepe.

Poligono Representatives, Camposol
Poligono reps are an essential part of the representation and communication system here on Camposol and in fact on any urbanisation here in Spain.
The new council administration has clearly stated that at its meetings with residents, although every one can voice an opinion or propose improvements it is only the recognised groups who will have a vote on those proposals.
To that end it is very important that right down to poligono level we need to be able to communicate with residents. For far too long we have relied on the internet/websites to carry those messages in spite of the majority of residents not having internet access.
The use of newsletters by the CRA and reports in both the Costa Calida Chronicle and the Camposol Journal both have their places but often are reporting history, by that time decisions have been made.
Would you like to devote a little of your time to represent your poligono. We are talking here about a little of your time, it is in no way a job requiring hours and hours of your time. You will need to communicate with your neighbours, keep them informed of developments and generally be the focal point for communication on your poligono.

Mazarrón FC report: Ucam Guadalupe 4 Mazarron FC 0
On an early Sunday Morning with a 10.15 am kick off, when suspensions, injuries, work commitments and fiestas meant many players were missing, it seemed that those who were on the pitch had also forgotten to turn up. Mazarron contributed absolutely nothing to the game and were fortunate that Guadalupe took pity on them and only scored 4 goals.
Within 3 minutes, the score was 2 – 0 with Guadalupe scoring with their first attack from a 25 yard shot and then scoring a second more or less straight afterwards following a Mazarron corner! The ball was cleared, Jose missed a through ball and it ended up in the net.
No more goals came in the first half but there was time for Robert to have his usual show of petulance with the referee booking him for dissent. He then went for a 50/50 ball with the keeper and a defender and came out of this holding his side and complaining. This time his protest went on far too long and he was eventually given a red card by the referee. Even then he continued with his antics and it was quite some time before the match resumed.
All that can be said of the second half is that Guadalupe scored twice and missed several sitters leaving the end result as 4 – 0. There was time, however, for an English lad named Max to make his debut. I wonder what he made of things.
Man of the match Diego (snr) with Alcaraz in second place.
Team: Peru, Jose, Borja, Diego, Diego (jr.) (Habibe), Guillermo (Ahmed), Alcaraz, Juan Antonio, Alfonso, Pepe (Max), Robert.
This Sunday, 4th December, Mazarron are at home to Puente Tocinos, kick off 4.30pm. As this is the last home game before Christmas, Los Amigos de Mazarron FC will be providing the traditional free mince pies, sausage rolls and cider for all supporters. Admission is just €5 and Santa hats are recommended.

The wreath of the Immaculate will now take place on Friday 25th and Reading of the 9 Miracle Statements on Saturday 26th.

Mazarrón FC report: Mazarron FC 1 Cieza 2
It was a case of déjà vu on Sunday when, with Mazarron, a goal to the good against a poor team, they attempted to protect a slender lead instead of going for the kill with the usual result.
With a string of injuries and suspensions Mazarron were forced into numerous changes, with Pepe at right back, Robert as captain and Alcaraz and Rollon jnr in the centre of defence.
Despite this, most of the early chances fell to Mazarron with shots from Pescau and Rivero being blocked and Robert causing confusion in the visitor’s defence on a regular basis. Once, he was hacked down just outside the area but nothing came from the free kick.
However from a quickly taken throw in from Pepe, Robert powered his way down the wing and his cross was superbly put away on the volley by Guillermo in the 37th minute.
At this stage Mazarron were well on top but no further goals came in the first half. After the interval, Mazarron once again went onto the defensive and after a booking for Pepe, from the resultant free kick the ball was driven along the ground and apparently through the wall into the net.
Shortly afterwards the visitors had a further free kick which somehow stayed out of the net but this only postponed the inevitable. Robert was booked for dissent, following which Mazarron ground out a couple of chances with Robert forcing a good save following a run and cross by Rivero.
However, a further free kick saw Cieza break away and score the winning goal, sending Mazarron into the bottom two in the league.
Man of the match Pepe
Team: Jose, Pepe, Borja, Rollon Jr, Guillermo, Alcaraz, Juan Antonio, Pescau (Diego jr.), Chico (Hamed), Rivero (Imaen), Robert.

CAMPOSOL WORKS STARTED
During A recent press conference the Mayor revealed that as of this week works are being carried out to the infrastructure of urbanization Sector A Camposol. These works, which could be described as "historical" consist of cleaning, improved street lighting, renewal of pavement areas in poor condition and signalling work with painting, among others. They are being carried out by operatives of the consistory, and by a large group of workers supplied by the developer MASA, thanks to agreements being reached between the company and the consistory Mazarron. They remain in talks to improve services and quality of life for residents of this important population centre.
REMOVAL OF CARDBOARD WASTE FROM COMMERCIAL BUSINESSES
This initiative is aimed at saving 100,000 euros a year
Mazarron Town Council continues to work in defense of the environment and has today launched an initiative to improve the management of recycling in the municipality. Specifically, the department head David Fernandez has sent a letter to commercial establishments to inform them that from Tuesday 15 November, garbage collection truck will pass through the main streets of Mazarron, the Port and Bolnuevo to collect cardboard produce the shops.
Specifically, the collection will take place on Tuesdays and Fridays from 7 pm to 10 pm. As the mayor explained, "this initiative aims to optimize waste collection service since, according to our calculations, we can save up to 100,000 euros a year." All traders have to do is "flatten the cardboard and keep on the premises until Tuesday or Friday, at which time it must be then handed over to the cardboard collection truck."
The Mayor of Mazarron, Ginés Campillo, stressed that the objective in addition to cost savings, is "getting to recycle cardboard in a more effective way". This service will be carried out on a trial basis for two months . Campillo has commented that the reception of the idea among traders "has been quite good and we hope that next year we can develop it further."
This measure applies only to businesses, and citizens should continue depositing cardboard generated at home in the blue recycling bin. The initiative adds to the many activities and projects from the Department of Environment being put in place for protecting the natural heritage of the municipality.

Mazarrón FC report: Pinatar 5 Mazarron FC 0
Despite a spirited display in the first two thirds of the game, Mazarron suffered a heavy defeat although 3 of the goals came in the last 20 minutes, after both Poyato and Diego were forced off injured and Jose the reserve keeper was playing as an outfield player as all 4 other subs had by then been used.
For the first 30 minutes play was open and chances came at both ends, notably for Mazarron, when a neat back heel from Rivero saw Robert shoot narrowly wide. In the 33rd minute, after Pinatar had a goal disallowed for offside, a brilliant through ball from Poyato set Robert free. Unfortunately he shot wide when perhaps he should have passed to an unmarked Rivero. Then Pinatar forced a corner from which the ball was eventually put into the net for the first goal.
Mazarron continued to give a good showing and a double save was needed from the Pinetar keeper to prevent Robert scoring and Mazarron went in at the interval very unfortunate to be trailing. The first booking of the game did not come until the 54th minute for a foul on Robert and immediately afterwards, Poyato then played a poor back pass but, fortunately, Peru was able to deal with the resultant shot. In the 65th minute two Pinetar players who both seemed to be well offside were allowed to continue and score the second goal.
Poyato then went off injured and Diego was also lying injured in the box when Pinetar carried on playing and made it 3 – 0. At this stage Mazarron were down to 10 men and before Diego was replaced by Jose the reserve keeper, a well worked goal saw the score reach 4 – 0.
As the game degenerated there were a string of bookings and, to rub salt into the wounds, Pinatar scored a fifth goal in injury time to give a totally unfair look to the scoreline.
Man of match Robert
Team: Peru, Borja, Guillermo, Diego (Jose), Alcaraz, Poyato (Rollon jnr), Robert, Chico (Diego jnr), Juan Antonio, Rivero (Pescau), Pepe (Habibe)

THE GARDEN LAUNCHES NEW LIGHTING PURÍSIMA
The popular garden of La Purisima, one of the hubs of social life in Mazarron, sports a new image in regard to its street lighting service. Mazarron Town Council is carrying out the installation of new streetlights much more in line with the environment and are replacing the old lamps, which were in an advanced state of deterioration.
This improvement in street lighting will also be carried out in the Calle Via once work in the garden of La Purisima is complete. Specifically, the streetlights will be replaced in the section from the municipal sports pavilion to the sports centre. These works come after a request from locals who had asked the Town Hall to renew the street lighting.
It also will carry out pruning work and maintenance of the vegetation of the garden of La Purisima in line with the work that has been conducted in other green areas of the municipality. During the last few weeks, works undertaken have included cleaning and improvement of gardens in Playasol 7, where even a shovel was used to clean debris from some streets, Bolnuevo, the garden of La Paz in Mazarron and also on the promenade of the Port.
All these actions are in addition to those carried out in areas in need of such work as including the Town Hall Square and Constitution Avenue, and the green areas of La Canada, La Majada and Cañada de Gallego, amongst others. The Department of Urban Public Services Management continues in this manner in response to citizen demands against the neglect suffered in the maintenance of the municipality during the previous legislature.

Mazarrón FC report: Mazarron FC 1 CD Bullense 1
Perhaps a draw was the fairest result in a poor match in which little good football was played. Unfortunately the result was also influenced by many questionable refereeing decisions.
With new signing Guillermo having a free role and Rivero and Abdel playing wide up front there was a more positive feel to the approach of Mazarron with Robert no longer isolated.
In the first quarter of the game, Mazarron were the better team and it took a good save from the Bullense keeper to prevent a shot from Rivero putting them in front. Several other good attempts also came to nothing but in the 27th minute following a collision between Robert and the keeper, a penalty was awarded and the keeper was booked.
Unfortunately Poyato blasted the penalty against the bar and the opportunity was gone. However Mazarron continued to press and a strong run down the right by Guillermo resulted in a good cross which was hammered into the net by Robert to give Mazarron a slender lead at the interval.
Having had a quiet first half, the referee sprung to life after the break and questionable free kicks were awarded on a regular basis with a string of yellow cards for players on both sides, many of them for no apparent reason.
Play was never allowed to flow and, as a result, the second half was a poor spectacle. Then, in the 7th or 8th minute of added time, the referee awarded a free kick to Bullense for a perfectly fair tackle by a Mazarron player. The resultant free kick was hammered into the top of the net to give Bullense a share of the points and spark a wave of protests from Mazarron players and supporters. The goal was the final kick of the game.
Man of the match: Rivero
Team. Peru, Borja, Diego, Poyatos, Guillermo (Pescau), Alcaraz, Juan Antonio, Chico, Rivero, Abdel (Pepe), Robert (Rollon jnr).

Camposol Train Update
I have just had a meeting with Kelly to clarify. The train has not been utilised very well for the past few weeks and has not been able to cover its costs despite reducing the carriages etc. We always knew it would be a case of "use it or lose it". The mechanical failure last night was simply the last straw as it will cost to repair and there is no money available. It is a very sad situation and we have been promised that it will return in the Spring and run from March until October. Unfortunately this does not help our case for requesting a bus service now and the lack of support for the train will show that there is not enough call for it, as if there was the train would still be running. Sorry just passing on the information as requested.
No Camposol Train today!
Due to a mechanical failure there will be no Camposol train today (Friday 4th November)
Apologies for any inconvenience caused but it is unavoidable.

The Royal British Legion in Spain - Poppy Appeal 2011
11-11-11-11 is very poignant and the only time this will occur in our lifetime. On 11th November this year millions of people around the world will stop, reflect and remember those who have given their lives or been injured in all the many conflicts.
The Royal British Legion is not only the custodian of Remembrance, but more importantly, has a duty to the living and all year raises funds to support its many beneficiaries. The annual Poppy Appeal is the most well known of all the fundraising activities when money is raised to assist those who are serving or who have served and their dependants. Last year around £34m was raised worldwide to support not only the Heroes of today, but the Heroes of yesterday. With veterans as young as 18, it will be seen that these vital funds are going to be needed for years to come.
Please support The Poppy Appeal but wearing a poppy and making a donation to support those who have and are continuing to serve their country. Our television news programmes bring it home to us all the terrible sacrifices our Armed Forces personnel make every day of their serving lives.
Legion Branches here will be holding their Remembrance Services and to find a service locally, please go to our website: www.britishlegion.org.uk/counties/spain-north and click on the Remembrance Services button.
Our gratitude goes to all those members, friends and businesses who give of their time each year to support the Legion.
