EVENTS IN ALHAMA - W/C 27 MARCH


CHANGE TO BUS STOPS WEEKEND OF 1& 2 APRIL - MAZARRÓN

The Local Police in Mazarrón reports that, due to Vuelta Ciclista a Murcia Masters, the bus stop of Mazarrón, located in Avenida de la Constitución changes its location to Calle La Via on Saturday 1 April from 6am until Sunday 2 April at 3pm. 

The stops will be those already used: next to Sports Centre La Aceña and in front of the Garden Miguel Ángel Blanco.


Traffic will be diverted along Calle La Vía, during the celebration of the sports events during both days during approximately 8am and 3pm

CYCLING EVENT - 1 AND 2 APRIL - MAZARRÓN AREA

Mazarrón will once again be a benchmark for regional cycling. 

This weekend, on 1 and 2 April, the Municipality hosts the VIII Vuelta a Murcia Master. It is estimated that about 200 cyclists will participate in this competition.

The VIII Vuelta Ciclista Master of Murcia will start on Saturday 1st of April with a double stage. In the morning the riders will face a route of 33 kilometers predominantly flat with a start from and finish in Mazarrón passing through Gañuelas, La Majada, La Atalaya and Leiva. 

The start will take place at 9.30am on Avenida de la Constitución.

In the afternoon, around 4pm, a time trial of about 7 kilometers will begin, starting at on the road RMD4 (Casa Colorá) and ending at La Majada.


On Sunday, April 2 sees the most demanding stage with climbs to the highs of Cedacero and La Cuesta if the Municipal boundaries of Mazarrón. The route of this stage will complete almost 100 kilometers.

FOOTBALL TOURNEMANT - 14-16 APRIL - PTO DE MAZARRÓN

On April 14, 15 and 16 the beach of Bahía de Mazarrón will host the I Beach Soccer International Cup "Playas de Mazarrón".

The championship was presented by Sports Councillor, Patricio Sánchez, along with the sports director of CD Playas de Mazarrón, José Jerez. 

With a maximum of 12 participating teams the tournament will award the top three ranked teams, the best player and the best goalkeeper. Registration will be free.

 The event, organized under the auspices of the rare disease associations D'GENES and ELIP, will be sponsored by Ramiro Amarelle, considered one of the best beach soccer players and current captain of FC Barcelona.

Patricio Sánchez, Councillor for Sports of the Mazarrón City Council,  highlighted the importance of "a championship that casts the name of Mazarrón and promotes beach soccer in the Municipality."


José Jerez, Sports Director of CD Playas de Mazarrón said that work is being done to "implement a tournament that is a fixed event in the national calendar of beach soccer and that Mazarrón is a benchmark in terms of beach soccer."

KAYAKING IN PUERTO DE MAZARRÓN

Bahia Surf, with the support of the Department of Sports of the City of Mazarrón, will offer new tourist routes in kayaking in the Bay of Mazarrón. 

Given the demand of last season, when around 4,000 users experienced this leisure practice, Bahia Surf has opted to expand the offer with three new routes that will cross the lighthouse cove, Cueva de Las Palomas, Cala Negra y Mojón and a trip through Isla Plana with bathing in  Cueva del Agua. 

The duration of the route ranges from an hour and a half to two and a half hours in groups of 20 to 30 people with a monitor, as announced by José María Cascales, Director of the Bahía Surf School.

Patricio Sánchez, Councillor for Sports of the Mazarrón City Council,  highlighted the promotional work carried out by companies such as Bahía Surf that help to project the tourist name of Mazarrón, in addition to training children and young people in the management of water sports during the year .

EXHIBITION IN MAZARRÓN UNTIL 29 APRIL

The artist Jean Carlos Puerto will exhibit his work in Casas Consistoriales until April 29. Under the title "Open myths", the natural painter from Venezuela brings to Mazarrón an exhibition of great beauty where realism predominates and in which the the author desmonstrates the use of light and colour.


The exhibition will be opened on Friday, March 24 at 8:30 p.m. Thereafter, you can visit in the mornings from Monday to Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and in the afternoons from Wednesday to Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. On April 13 and 14 (Holy Thursday and Holy Friday) the exhibition will be closed.

HIKING ROUTES IN MAZARRÓN


The Council of Tourism of the City of Mazarrón offers for this month of March and early April new free routes that invite you to know the beauty and history of the Bay of Mazarrón.

A guided tour for this month of March will be a hiker route of high difficulty and with a duration of three hours by the beautiful spot of La Perdiz. It will take place on Saturday 25 March. The limit of places is 40 and registration can be made until Friday March 24.

On Saturday, April 1, the guided tour "After the tracks of the past" is a two hour route that takes you to one of the archaeological sites of Puerto de Mazarrón,  the necropolis of Molineta, the Roman house on Calle Era and the Factoría Romana de Salazones. The limit is also 40 people with a deadline for registration of 31 of March.

SAN JOSÉ FIESTA - EVENTS FOR WEEKEND OF 18 & 19 MARCH

The fiestas of San José of Puerto de Mazarrón continue this weekend with children’s activities on  Sunday, March 19, at 11am in the Plaza de las Comunidades Autónomas (Paseo Marítimo)with various workshops. And in the afternoon, from 4pm, in the Church of San José.

A music concert takes place at 10pm also at Plaza de las Comunidades Autónomas (Paseo Marítimo) with a performance by Conecta2 on Saturday 18th, and a Concert of Sacred Music in the Church of San José also on Saturday at 7pm

Sunday, March 19, at 11:30 am, sees a Charity Master Class of Zumba, organized by the Juan Antonio Iglesias Dance School. This takes place in the Plaza de las Comunidades Autónomas (Paseo Marítimo)

The main religious acts will be celebrated on the Patron's Day at 7:00pm with the Solemn Mass conducted by the Parish Priest Abel Rosa, and continuing with the traditional procession of the image of San José.

Another attraction of the Festival of San José is the Tapa Route, where this year 17 establishments are offering their best snacks for the delight of the palate of Mazarroneros and visitors. Three representatives of the registered premises (Restaurante Avenida, Nueva Bodeguita and Tapería Perra Chica) accompanied the Councillor of Festivities in the presentation of the programme and encouraged everyone to participate in a route that will have numerous prizes for those who fill out their passports (with a minimum of 10 stamps) that can be collected in participating establishments. The passport must be presented at the Tourist Office. The deadline will be Sunday, March 19th at 3pm, and the passport can be deposited at the ice cream parlour “Venecia” on that day. The prize draw will be held at 5pm in the Plaza de las Comunidades Autónomas (Paseo Marítimo).

The expected fireworks display by the sea will take place at midnight from Saturday 18th to Sunday 19 March.
