This year the Festival of San José de
Mazarron sees the burning of a “falla”, a tradition that
originated in the 80´s. The burning will be Saturday March 21 at
11pm on the beach along the promenade . This is the main novelty of a
festival that will also have a school carnival parade scheduled for
Saturday, March 21 from 5pm on the seafront. Another novelty is the
Mass Huertana that at the request of the local pastor will be held on
San Jose March 19 at 12 noon.
The programme was presented by
Councilman for Celebration, Isidro Coy, who asked residents of Puerto
de Mazarrón to enjoy the festivities which began on Friday March 6
with the “Tapas Route”, where 31 establishments will participate
until 22 March. For the price of 2€ customers can enjoy a tapas
with a drink. In each participating establishment, customers can
obtain the passport of the route. Customers, who receive a minimum of
15 stamps (each from a different venue) are eligible for a variety of
prizes. Those who complete the route (31 stamps) will participate in
the draw for a prize of 300€ in cash or a dinner for two at
Restaurante “La Cabaña” de la Finca Buenvista –Estrella
Michelín- de El Palmar.
Also, la Asociación de Comerciantes de
Mazarrón y Comarca(ACOMA) collaborate with the Fiestas de San José
and have organized a Trade Route. A total of 44 stores are involved.
Shopping at six different shops customers can fill out a ticket
entitling them to enter a raffle with prizes including: a romantic
dinner and accommodation in the Hotel La Cumbre, a shopping trolley
worth 100€ from Eurocash and lunch or dinner for 2 at Bocapizza.
The Trade Route was presented at a press conference by the president
of ACOMA, Francisca Madrid and Councillor of Commerce, David
Fernandez, who used his speech to highlight the good employment data
