MORATALLA WALK - APRIL 12TH

The next walk with “Discovering Moratalla” is on April 12 covering the area of Las Murtas - Cortijo Myrtle.

On this tour you will visit for the first time the Sierra del Cerezo and more specifically the Arroyo de las Murtas, an enclave totally unkown for tourism and where there are no catering establishments or inhabitants.

We begin the route on the grounds of Las Murtas, well-known, but few know the origin of its name: a shrub called Mirto or even Arrayan.

MAZARRÓN FC V SPORTING CAMPOSOL - 29 MARCH

Mazarron FC are at home this Sunday in the local derby against Sporting Camposol, kick off 18.30.

Admission is free for this game in an attempt to attract a bumper crowd for the return fixture which Mazarron won 1-0 earlier this season.

There will be a bigger than usual raffle,prize and the refreshment  facilities of the Club Cantina and the Supporters Lounge which is run by Los Amigos de Mazarron FC on behalf of the Football Club will be available.

You can enjoy a drink, delicious food including steak slices, pasties and sausage rolls and, hopefully, an exciting game of football.

Please join us and bring a friend it should be a great experience

CITY OF MAZARRÓN SKI TRIP

The Youth Council of the City of Mazarrón again are offering the traditional trip to Sierra Nevada. A journey that invites the people of Mazarron the opportunity to ski, enjoy a two-day ski course and one night accommodation with breakfast in a three star hotel.

The activity includes equipment rental, two days ski pass and accident insurance on track. The cost of the trip is 193€ with a limited number of 30 places.

The departure to Sierra Nevada will be Saturday March 28 at 4.30am from the bus stop in Puerto de Mazarrón, passing through Mazarrón. The return will be on Sunday March 29 at 4.30pm.

Children under 18 must provide parental consent and under 14 must be accompanied by a relative.

AZUL Y BLANCO - TALK BY PRESIDENT OF FOTOSENDEROS

More than five hundred people gathered on Sunday in Pliego to celebrate the X Regional Walking Day. An event in which the presence of Mazarrón residents was noted to provide the greatest number of participants. The Mazarrón neighbours enjoyed a good day of exercise outdoors in one of the most beautiful areas of the Region of Murcia.


In addition, hikers have this week a new event to look forward to - at the Centro Cultural de Mazarrón where an interesting talk will take place by the President of Fotosenderos, Pepe Tárraga, entitled "Azul y blanco: Un paseo virtual por las montañas y su entorno” (Blue and White - A virtual tour of the mountains and their environment) . It will be Thursday, March 25, from 8pm.

SAN JOSÉ SCHEDULE - MARCH 2015

This year the Festival of San José de Mazarron sees the burning of a “falla”, a tradition that originated in the 80´s. The burning will be Saturday March 21 at 11pm on the beach along the promenade . This is the main novelty of a festival that will also have a school carnival parade scheduled for Saturday, March 21 from 5pm on the seafront. Another novelty is the Mass Huertana that at the request of the local pastor will be held on San Jose March 19 at 12 noon.

The programme was presented by Councilman for Celebration, Isidro Coy, who asked residents of Puerto de Mazarrón to enjoy the festivities which began on Friday March 6 with the “Tapas Route”, where 31 establishments will participate until 22 March. For the price of 2€ customers can enjoy a tapas with a drink. In each participating establishment, customers can obtain the passport of the route. Customers, who receive a minimum of 15 stamps (each from a different venue) are eligible for a variety of prizes. Those who complete the route (31 stamps) will participate in the draw for a prize of 300€ in cash or a dinner for two at Restaurante “La Cabaña” de la Finca Buenvista –Estrella Michelín- de El Palmar.

Also, la Asociación de Comerciantes de Mazarrón y Comarca(ACOMA) collaborate with the Fiestas de San José and have organized a Trade Route. A total of 44 stores are involved. Shopping at six different shops customers can fill out a ticket entitling them to enter a raffle with prizes including: a romantic dinner and accommodation in the Hotel La Cumbre, a shopping trolley worth 100€ from Eurocash and lunch or dinner for 2 at Bocapizza. The Trade Route was presented at a press conference by the president of ACOMA, Francisca Madrid and Councillor of Commerce, David Fernandez, who used his speech to highlight the good employment data that is logging the local business sector. Fernández supported this initiative calling it "intelligent and interesting, which encourages Mazarron consumers."

The raffle for the Tapas Route and Trade Route will take place on Sunday March 22 at 5pm and 6pm.


Las Fiestas de San José de Mazarron offer a varied programme with Mass and Rociera, Zumba and Aerobics Dance Marathons and different sporting events.

MOUNTAIN BIKE EVENT - 8 MARCH


On Sunday March 8 Mazarrón host the Mountain Bike “March” which is already considered the largest in the South East peninsular. Organized by the Cycling Club of Mazarrón and the Department of Sports, the event folloWs the same route as last year. It is a shaped by a "double eight," which will run for 60 percent within the Municipality. It will begin at 09:30 am at Complejo Deportivo de la Media Legua , tour the coast, coves and much of the interior of the Municipality along the Sierra de la Perdiz.

So far more than 1200 participants from all parts of Spain have signed to take part, as confirmed by the President of the Cycling Club of Mazarrón, Francisco Espinosa. The price has been reduced this year to 10€  which will be donated to the Red Cross. Women as well as Cadets and Juniors compete for free. There will be trophies for all categories.


For the Councillor for Sports, Andres Valera,  it's a sporting event of great significance that returns to project the name of the Municipality, this time with a charitable purpose.

ARTISAN MARKET - 8 MARCH, SANTIAGO DE LA RIBERA

On Sunday March 8, in Santiago de la Ribera, San Javier takes place the “Artisan Market” between 10am and 2pm, which takes place the second Sunday of each month in order to offer locals and foreign visitors to our community the most genuine craft that takes place in the Region of Murcia. You can find over forty stalls of artisans carrying out demonstrations of their trade .

BUGLES & DRUM PARADE - 7 MARCH

The promenade of Puerto de Mazarrón house on Saturday March 7 the First National Professional March Contest with the participation of six bands of bugles and drums. The event was announced at a press conference by the Councillor for Culture, Ginés Campillo and Musical Director of the Band of Bugles and Drums of Mazarrón, Mario Gallego.

At 4pm a parade is scheduled to run along the promenade and at 5pm the contest takes place in the vicinity of the Plaza de la Sal. Participating bands are Virgen de los Dolores of Bullas, Cruz de Espejos of Archena, Virgen de los Dolores of Cehegín, Nuestra Señora del Rosario de Era Alta in Murcia, Sangre de Cristo of Elche and la Banda de Cornetas y Tambores of  Mazarrón.

This event serves to debut the big style changes that were started just over 8 months ago by the Mazarrón band. As well as the costume changes, the band of Bugles and Drums musical style has gone from military to Sevillano. Changes that have been made possible thanks to municipal aid and private companies, as confirmed by the Musical Director, Mario Gallego.


For the Councillor for Culture, Ginés Campillo, it is an initiative that values ​​the activity of these bands, that in recent times have become increasingly important.
