THE LIONS ARE COMING TO FUENTE ALAMO

Club de Leones de Mazarrón Bahía
The Lions Club of Mazarrón Bahía

THE LIONS ARE COMING TO FUENTE ALAMO
Hoping to open a new Lions Club in Fuente Alamo very soon, the Lions Club of Mazarrón Bahía are holding a 'Wacky Racenight' at the Hacienda del Alamo Clubhouse from 7.30pm on Tuesday 14 June.  A light supper will be available.
This will be a racenight that you'll remember for a long time, the likes of which it's unlikely that you've ever attended before!
Along with all the usual 'forecasts' and 'totes', you might also get to buy your own horse – or even to 'ride' one!  It's guaranteed to be a 'fun' night and to raise money for local, national and international charities.
The secondary purpose is to help Mazarrón Lions to launch a New Lions Club in Fuente Alamo by showing people how Lions members enjoy themselves whilst still raising money for deserving causes.  There will be explanatory leaflets available to interested parties, and Lions members 'on hand' to answer any questions that you may have.  They'll also be making a contact list of people interested in setting up a new club, so that those who showed an interest can be kept 'up to date' on developments.
Tickets for the event are priced at just €5.00 each and include the meeting's 'race card'.  Tote tickets are just €1.00 each so you can 'have a flutter' without breaking the bank
Tickets for the event are available from...
Drew Ryder at the Hacienda del Alamo Clubhouse, Fuente Alamo
Marion & Steve Pebody at the M&S Food Hall (The Dog Bowl), Fuente Alamo
Mazarrón Bahía Lions Tickets Sales outside Kennellys Bar, Camposol, every Friday
Lion Mervyn Booth on 968 163082
Lion John Klages on 600 327126
or any Mazarrón Lions Club member
MAKE SURE YOU DON'T MISS OUT ON A GREAT NIGHT
The International Association of Lions Clubs are nearly 100 years old. In that time they've earned high marks for both integrity & transparency and are now internationally recognised as the biggest – and best, non-governmental service organisation in the world today. They're a well-run organization with a steady vision, a clear mission, and a long – and proud – history.

Insurance Documents Warning!

"A word of warning!!!
A friend of mine was out in her car yesterday evening. She had an appointment at a car dealers in Mazarron town.
As she pulled up outside the garage uniformed policemen approached her and asked to see her documents. Fortunately she had all her paperwork with her and the policemen took them to their car and checked them using their computer database.
When they came back to my friend they said that their computer showed that her car has not been insured for the last 3 years and promptly find her 1500 euros and called a pick up truck to take her car to the police pound.
My friend called her insurance company to find out what had gone wrong as she had her insurance certificate and the bank receipt showing she had paid but the police still said she was uninsured.
Her insurance company then realised that they had got one letter in her registration plate wrong on the certificate but told my friend it was her fault for not having checked her insurance certificate when she got it.
My poor friend is now trying to get her car back, with all the costs that that will involve, and get her fine quashed.
Do please check all your documents very carefully so that you don't suffer as my friend is now, through no fault of her own.
Incidentally my friend is English but is fluent in Spanish to such a degree that she represents people in Spanish courts."

Update on my friends nightmare because her insurance company let her down.
Bear in mind this lady is English but fluent in Spanish. How would your average Ex-Pat Brit have fared.
DO CHECK THOSE DOCUMENTS.

"Got car out of the police pound this morning. 90€ tow and storage charge, 2 days out of work driving between trafico and police etc. 5 trips to the police culminating in show down with the Chief Sergeant this morning. I gave him a piece of my mind and 5 of them escorted me out to my car with an apology. One of my best speeches".

Lorca Appeal by MABS

The MABS shops in Totana and San Javier have decided to hold a one day sale on 8 June and donate all proceeds to the Lorca Appeal. We would like to donate the money to a specific cause - rebuilding a medical centre or purchasing a piece of medical equipment that was damaged during the earthquake, for example. We would appreciate it if you could let us know if you are aware of something that may be suitable.
