The Artist Juan Mariano Balibrea will exhibit at the Town
Hall until June 11 at the same time as developing, during these weeks, an
educational project aimed at schoolchildren in the Municipality with his work
about young people and future creators.
Students from different schools in
Mazarrón are visiting The Town Hall and will then attend a practical discussion
with the painter.
The Councillors of Education and Culture, Patricio Sánchez
and Pedro Martinez have already witnessed two such visits. The deputies
accompanied the artist during the practice session he had with students from La
Cañadica and Miguel Delibes.
Juan Mariano Balibrea activity runs parallel to the
exhibition “Desde mi ventana (zen)”. Balibrea is a Professor of Fine Arts and
graduated in Art History at the University of Murcia. He has given numerous
workshops, courses and conferences.
The visit from the schools are divided into two stages.
First, a tour in which the artist talks about his work, the perception of the
landscape in the natural environment and the various expressive forms
subsequently used during the workshop to express their ideas, experiences and
emotions. In unison, and always with brevity and adapting the presentation to
the ages of the children, Juan Mariano focuses on a few works, depending on the
generic theme chosen by the school.
Before the creative workshop, the painter
presents some images to provide context for the proposal for further work.
Secondly, and after a brief explanation of the expressive possibilities of the
material (soft waxes), children begin their own creations based on a proposal
of wide and divergent nature which may vary according to the number of visitors
who come in the group.
The exhibition “Desde mi ventana (zen)" can be seen in
Town Hall in the mornings from Monday to Saturday between 10am and 2pm, and in
the evenings of Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays between 5.30pm and 8.30pm.
The exhibition is closed on public holidays.
