FREE GUIDED BUS TOUR OF PUERTO DE MAZARRON - 1 JUNE

Tthe City of Mazarrón are organising a free guided bus which will tour the coast of Mazarrón passing Erosiones de Bolnuevo, la Torre de los Caballos, el Centro de Interpretación del Barco Fenicio and the Museo Arqueológico Municipal ‘Factoría Romana de Salazones’, departing  CEIP Miguel Delibes ' Puerto de Mazarrón at 10am and returning at 2.30pm.

YOGA WORKSHOP - PUERTO DE MAZARRÓN 1 JUNE

This Sunday June 1 Mazarrón host a regional concentration of Yogis , ie , people who practice yoga ; which will take place in the Sports Hall of CEIP Miguel Delibes ' Puerto de Mazarrón and has the support of the City . At 9:30am yogis begin arriving at the school , and after 10am, a series of activities related to the practice and its different modalities will begin .

The first teachers who will begin activities are Gabriel Cabrera and Mari Carmen Fernández of yoga school ' Shadana ' Bolnuevo who will demonstrate the ' Hatha Yoga' and 'Yoga Nidra ' . Afterwards,  ' Tao Yoga ' by Jose Antonio Valera, Tao yoga teacher and specialist in natural medicine and therapies. From 1pm will be ' Zen Meditation ' guided by the Monk Homyo Cadelli of International Zen Association , and half an hour later , there will be a talk on Ayurvedic Medicine by Specialist Ramón Argudo.

Ending the morning , attendees will share a vegetarian meal to regain strength before continuing with the afternoon activities . Specifically , at 5.20pm  'Yoga of Dreams ' with John Ortiz, of Murcian yoga school ' Dhyana ' , and finally at 6.30pm the teacher of yoga and meditation Juan Martinez explains the key for ' Yogic Meditation of Contemplation of Being. "

The event is free thanks to the generosity of teachers , organizers , participants and Mazarrón council. Its aim is none other than that yoga practitioners can share a party , a gathering and practices for this beneficial physical discipline for body and mind. This meeting took place in previous years in other parts of the Region including Mula (2010), Bullas (2011 ) , Pliego (2012) and Campos del Río ( 2013). In addition , the City of Mazarrón has prepared a parallel activity to the companions of the yogis who , instead of joining the initiative , want to learn more about the town of Mazarrón. 29 MAY - ACTIVITIES AT SENIOR SOCIAL CENTRE, PTO DE MAZARRÓN

TRIATHALON - MAZARRÓN 31 MAY

Mazarrón will become this weekend  Regional powerhouse in  the sport of triathlon, holding two tests of this sport . Specifically , on Saturday May 31 there is the Regional Triathalon in the School Sports Programme and on Sunday June 1st is the I Triathlon ' Bahia de Mazarrón ' . This was announced  by the Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo , Councillor for Sports, Andres Valera and President of the Sports Club ' Bahia de Mazarrón' , Pedro Lorite , the organizing Club in collaboration with the Town Hall.

Andres Valera explained that " in regards to the School Sports Triathalon , there are now over 400 children and young people who , from Benjamin to Youth category , will attend Mazarrón on Saturday to contest the Regional Final from 10am. " The Mayor of Sports added that " this appointment , and the triathlon on Sunday, will be held in Bolnuevo around the esplanade of erosions ; so we ask the shops in the area , despite the inconvenience of movement that these tests  can generate, understand that sporting events of this type are positive and beneficial to Mazarrón " .

Meanwhile, Pedro Lorite explained that " for the first time , the City Hall and our Club have organized our own triathlon , after two years in which we have gained experience with triathlons  organized by the Murcia and Spanish Federations " . The President of C.D. Bahia de Mazarrón commented that " we have 200 athletes registered and the registration period remains open until Thursday at 7 pm . Registration can be done through the web www.clubdeportivobahiademazarron.es . This test on Sunday also begins at 10am .

Participants in this trial will have to complete 750 meters of swimming at the Bolnuevo beach , 20km bike ride on the D-6 and a 5km run along the promenade from the popular fishing district . In regards to the distances in the School Sports Regional Final , these vary depending on the category . Pedro Lorite asked residents and businesses in the area to " excuse the inconvenience that this test may cause " and noted that " thanks to the work of the local police , there will be times when you may drive without problem as directed by the Agents. "


The Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo , stressed that " this sporting event is a good example of the willingness of a club within the Town to arranging events that are important because , in addition to promoting physical activity , it also promote the name of Mazarrón " . The Mayor invited residents and tourists " to enjoy any of these two sporting events " and thanked " the Local Police , Civil Protection, Red Cross Mazarrón and volunteers  for the important role they play, for this event will become a new sporting success for the town . "

SUMMER ACTIVITY COURSES - ENROLMENT FROM 2 JUNE

The Department of Sports City of Mazarrón opens the Enrolment for Sports Courses this Summer on 2 June. Like every year, the swimming pool will host swimming lessons and will be divided into three periods and are aimed at both boys and girls from 3 to 15 years ( children ) and people over 15 year (maintenance courses ) . The first period shall run from 1 to 21 July , the second from 22 July to 11 August and the third will run from August 12 to September 1 .

Courses for children are during the morning or afternoon, as required by the monitors. Registration can only be made for a course. If you started the first course and there are vacancies for the following , you can choose them. For its part, the maintenance courses are divided into three shifts at 9.15am. 2pm and 8pm. The course fee for children is 25€ and 30€ for maintenance . The quota of students is limited , respecting strict order of registration.

The registration will be done once payment has been credited to the account number 3058.0203.56.2732000014 ' Cajamar ' and a receipt is delivered  to the Department of Sports , located in Hall ' La Aceña' . Also, those who want to go to the swimming pool for free can do so at the price of 2€. Inscription is also taking place for those wanting to book for Multiactividad Boating ( sailing, surfing and canoeing ) for those over 6 old and to be taught at the School of Sailing ' Grimpola ' , paddle classes for children over 5 years in  Puerto de Mazarrón , tennis lessons for all ages at Sports Hall  ' Bahia ' and table tennis lessons for all ages at ' La Aceña ' and surfiing lessons for all ages which will be held on the beach of Bahia.


For these courses , you will need to collect registration forms in the Department of Sports , where information on prices and schedules can be obtained . The registration form for swimming lessons can be downloaded on the municipal website www.mazarron.es and also collected in the Department of Sports .

FOOD & WINE EVENT - MAZARRÓN, 6-8 JUNE

Mazarrón will become the gastronomic capital of bluefin tuna between 6 to 8 June . Renowned chefs , along with professionals from the catering industry will arrive at the marina in the Town to show the culinary excellence of this product which will be traditionally linked to the fishing village .

The first conference, organized by the City , is aimed at all public and professionals, to taste , in addition to the tuna , other delights of the town such as tomatoes , vegetables , salted dishes ... and taste the best wines of the region .

During the announcement, the Mayor of Mazarrón,  Ginés Campillo highlighted " the fishing tradition of the town , linked to tuna, as evidenced by the traps that are still made in the Bay of Mazarrón ; ancestral art of fishing used by Iberians, Phoenicians , Carthaginians , Greeks and Romans , and that continues to this day . "

Campillo gave thanks for " the support of Estrella Levante,  Fornet , Ricardo Fuentes e Hijos, Canal Cocina and Jose Diaz and other companies that are collaborating and making it possible to hold this event in Mazarrón to become the gastronomic capital of atun rojo " .

Chef Pablo González- Conejero has conducted a cooking demonstration in which, after cutting up a tuna, made ​​various dishes where the main ingredient is the said tuna. González- Conejero has extolled the properties of this very popular fish in the diet of much of the world , and is frequently used in the Mediterranean diet and in our Region. " He has outstanding culinary preparations, very diverse, whether fresh , cooked or preseved ; and how to prepare by various cuttings methods, as demonstrated : sliced ​​belly (abdomen ) , flank , etc ".
PROGRAMME
The sessions have planned activities for the general public , including children , as well as for professionals. Cooking and culinary demonstrations will be featured, wine tastings, tasting tomatoes , salted products... and cooking workshops for children ,

The conference will begin on Friday at 6.30pm with the cooking show " Cocina Mazarrónera ," in which various local restaurants in Mazarrón will develope typical dishes. At 7pm  ' el ronqueo ' in which an expert will cut up a large tuna (this may be unsuitable for those of a sensitive nature). At the same time you can attend  the conference,  " What tomato to buy? " .

At 7.30pm and 8.30pm, two cooking demonstrations will be held: ' Our understanding of tuna ' , by David Muñoz  of Restaurant Alborada ; and ' Cutting Tuna in Japanese Style ' , by Ricardo Sanz from Kabuki Restaurant , the only one in Spain with 1 Michelin Star , plus 3 Repsol Suns .

Saturday will begin at 12 pm, with show cooking ' Panderetas de Papel ' with Firo Vázquez , from Restaurant El Olivar de Moratalla ( 1 Repsol  Sun) . At 1pm there will be demonstration , especially to children, ' Castillos de Atun ' , by Pablo Cerezuela and Cesar Alcantud , of Restaurant La Catedral. During this event, prizes will be handed over to the participating schools in the conference

In the afternoon , from 5.30pm, Pablo Martinez, from Restaurante Eszencia y Arqua, will perform the show cooking technique of salting and drying procedures in current cuisine ' . At the same time there will be the tasting of wines with Gold medals .

Later, at 6.30pm, it's time to meet Thomas Ecija of restaurants Albero and La Maita  , his cooking show ' “sensitivity and respect. Mazarrón in it´s pure state ' . At 7pm sommelier Joan Belda, of Cabaña Buenavista Shack, will be conducting in English ' Great wines at low prices ' . Saturday afternoon will end with two shows , one at 7.30pm , ' The garden and sea textures '  with Gines Jose Nicolás of Rincon de Pepe ; and at 8.30pm ' Japanese traditional cuisine ' , by Patricio Alarcon of Japanese Restaurant Enso Sushi Japanese.

On Sunday ,  at 12pm sees the cooking contest ' Stuffed Tomatoes ' . At the same time the lecture by Joan Belda yesterday is repeated , this time in Castilian.  The afternoon will be the turn of David Lopez, frm Group Quality Tapas Las Flores , with his show cooking ' Bluefin and Salt ' at 5.30pm . At the same time, wine tasting takes place with Hacienda del Carche and Casa de la Ermita , by Eloy Sanchez.

A 6.30pm Antonio Nicolas from Alejandro restaurant , 1 Michelin star holder , will perform the cooking show ' Parts of a Tuna ' . Shortly later, at 7pm , Antonio Chacon and David Lopez will conduct the wine tasting - pairing with tuna.

One of the latest chefs on the scene ,  Pablo González- Conejero from Murcia and Cabaña  Buenavista Restaurant , with 1 Michelin Star and 2 Repsol Suns , will teach the cooking show ' Ten Years of tuna in Cabaña Buenavista ' . After him , it's time to meet Alberto del Cerro from Restaurant El Pollo Rocker with ' The tomato as main course ' .


The conference will end with the ' Past, Present and Future of tuna in Mazarrón ' presentation to be held at 9.30pm on the main stage , given by Pablo Cerezuela .

CHARITY FUN DAY - 31 MAY

Following the highly successful Charity Fun Day last November when over 2000€ was raised for deserving local causes, Centro Comercial Rioja - situated in the heart of Orihuela Costa - is planning another Charity Fun Day, this time on Saturday 31st May.

There will be live entertainment courtesy of the Sunshine FM roadshow, plus numerous charity stalls and events all over the complex, with the main charity benefitting from the day being Reach Out Torrevieja.

With a slogan of “Helping the Homeless and Needy” Reach Out try to help anyone in need, irrespective of race, creed or status, by providing basic food, clothes, blankets, bedlinen, household items and furniture and giving support in every way they can to someone in need.

Reach Out is an entirely voluntary organisation and 100% of all donations benefit the homeless and poor. They are in desperate need of all sorts of items for babies and children; clothes, toys, shoes, baby food, baby toiletries and everything else for children of all ages. Plus any items of non perishable food, tins, cans, bottles etc which could be donated.

The fun starts at midday and will go on throughout the afternoon and early evening with all the bars and restaurants on Centro Comercial Rioja open and participating, with a hog roast and barbeques for all to enjoy.

MAZARRÓN LADIES BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT MAY 2014

Mazarrón hosts from Thursday 22 May, the stage of promotion to the Superior League 2 Ladies Basketball to be held in the sports hall 'La Aceña ' between 22 and 25 May . The event was announced by Councilman of Sports City of Mazarrón, Andres Valera , Secretary of the Basketball Federation of the Region of Murcia, Fulgencio Madrid, Club President  of ' Bahia de Mazarrón Basket' , Michel Zamora, and Laura Fernández , Murcian Team Captain of ' UCAM Jairis ' .

Andres Valera was proud because " Mazarrón will host another important event related to women's basketball so I invite citizens from Mazarron to fly the flag at 'La Aceña ' to encourage athletes and especially the ' UCAM Jairis ' team representing our region . "

Michel Zamora thanked " the City Federation and its work since what matters is that the name of Mazarrón rings in Spain. " Finally , Laura Fernandez was very happy because " this is the second time we have got to this stage of promotion and this year is special because we don´t have to dispute it hundreds of miles from home and therefore will have a lot of support ."


In group 'A' teams the teams are UCAM Jairis (Valencia-Murcia), Cenforde Cervantes (Castilla La-Mancha), Majadahonda Olímpico Sage (Madrid) and  Ros Casares Godella (Valencia-Murcia); whilst in Group ´B´ there are Real Canoe (Madrid), Picken Claret (Valencia-Murcia) and Baloncesto Getafe (Madrid). 

MAZARRÓN SPORTS AWARDS - MAY 23rd

 La Cumbre Hotel, Puerto de Mazarrón on Friday, May 23 from 9.30pm hosts the XXIII Sports Gala presented by the Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo , Councillor for Sports, Andres Valera , and Manager of  Communications Group 'La Voz de Mazarrón ' Antonio Balanza , whose Company  is the founder and organizer of the event with the City of Mazarrón. As Valera said , " once again we recognize the achievements of various clubs and athletes who have excelled in the last season with a gala."
Mazarrón Town Council will deliver a total of 8 awards which will go to the hands of the 'Best Local Athlete Male ' , 'Best Local Female Athlete' , the ' Best Sports Club of the Year 2013-2014 ' , 'Best Team 2013 -2014 ' , ' Best Promising Sportsman 2013-2014 ' , the ' Dedication to Sport ' , the ' Legend of Mazarron Sport ' and ' Best Sports Event 2013-2014 ' . But the council has also developed over a dozen other awards for various sports and clubs , but will not be known until the day of the gala .
A total of 7 trophies from sponsors will also be provided. There will be the trophies for ‘Jugador Más Regular’ provided by Agroquímicos Los Cazadores,  ‘A la Elegancia’ by Cafeteria  Porto Bello,   ‘Máximo Goleador’ by Clínica Rover,  ‘A la Constancia’ by Motos Raúl,  ‘Al Mejor Portero’ provided by Asesoría Alonso,  ‘Al Riesgo Deportivo’ from Autos ‘Almazarrón’ and finally the trophy  ‘A la Labor Informativa’ from Communications Group  ‘La Voz de Mazarrón’.

IV REGATTA - MAZARRÓN 17 AND 18 MAY

The waters of the Bay of Mazarrón will host on 17 ​​and 18 May, from 11am and midday respectively, the fourth race ' Bahia de Mazarrón ' , which has become , despite its short history, the benchmark for sailing. In its fourth session, attendees will enjoy a spectacular race in the sea, covering 13.8 nautical miles.

This event organized by the Ayuntamiento and the Club de Regatas de Mazarrón will help promote the seaside town and will be visible from most of the beaches in Puerto de Mazarrón.

Sailors and visitors can enjoy an extensive activity programme with a barbeque available on Saturday night and a giant paella for 300 invited guests at the awards ceremony on the Sunday.


For his part, Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, explained how delighted he was to be involved in this sporting event again. " We believe in this test firmly and decisively from The Town Hall because it is an excellent opportunity to promote the name of Mazarrón and its charms."

FREE WEB CREATION AND MANAGEMENT COURSE - MAZARRÓN

The Department of Employment, Training and Local Development has opened the deadline to register for the course ' Web Creation and Management " to be held at the Municipal Centre Employment Initiatives  (CIME ) Mazarron , through the Local Development Agency ( ADL ) during the months of May and June. The course is aimed at both entrepreneurs and businessmen who have an outdated web page and wish to upgrade , and for those who want to create a website from 0 . This educational activity is free.

To register you need to attend the ADL , located in the CIME Avenue of the Constitution , 65  , from 8 am to 15 pm ; submitting the registration brochure for this course (which can be downloaded on the municipal website www.mazarron.es) together with a photocopy of your ID and the last receipt of autonomous or payroll.


The course will last 60 hours (30 hours classroom and 30 on-line) and will run from May 26 to June 6 June between 7pm and 10pm at the offices of the CIME . MAZARRÓN DIA a DIA AWARDS POSTPONED

La Universidad Popular in Mazarrón reports that the awards contest 'Mazarrón Dia a Dia' is postponed to Friday, May 16 at 20pm in auditorium of the Cultural Centre.

SAN ISIDRO, MAZARRÓN - FIESTA JUNE 2014

Friday, May 9 saw the start of the fiesta in the district of San Isidro in honour of the Saint who gives his name to the popular neighborhood of Puerto de Mazarrón. 

As is traditional, fireworks were lit at 7.30pm by the Deputy Mayor for Planning, Francisco Garcia and Councillor of Celebration , Isidro Coy, followed by a parade by the brass band ' Los Frescos' , and then a performance by Mazarron group LOS LUISOS ' .

Many cyclists turned up for a “marcha” on Saturday and at the end of the day a tribute was held for neighbor Gregoria Ferré Martí where the Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, and the Mayor of Celebration was present, followed by a concert from  'La Banda del Barrio ' .

On Sunday was a pet contest  and a comedy performance by Larry.

On Monday May 12 is the day dedicated to children with 2x1 fair and election of Miss and Mister Children at 7pm , followed by a lemonade for all the children. In the evening there will be a migas competition and children's performances . Indeed, various performances by the neighbours will be the highlight of Tuesday and Wednesday evening.

On Thursday May 15 is the day dedicated to the patron with Mass and subsequent procession with the image of San Isidro throughout the streets of the neighbourhood from 8pm and a performance by Rondalla de San Isidro at 22.30 . Friday is the night of the masquerade ball and on Saturday is ' Fitness Day "with activities from 11am by gyms ' La Aceña', ' BahíaSur ' and ' Olympus ' , along with Dance School  'Antonio Jara ' and centre ' Danzafeel 's'.

Also on Saturday night is a pastry competition at 8.30pm and at 10.30pm the musical ' Around the World in 80 minutes ' .

Finally, on Sunday May 18 will be the day where residents, associations and districts will share a giant paella. At 8pm, the youngsters will enjoy the ' Pandilla de Drilo ' , closing the festivities with the delivery of  bingo prizes and raffle for a cruise for 4.


Although the programme of activities began Friday , the festival of San Isidro already started their  celebrations on Friday April 25 with the reading of the proclamation . This year's neighbour and President of the Cycling Club  '9 and ½  ' of Puerto de Mazarrón, José de la Cruz Sánchez Navarro, was responsible for opening the festivities at a dinner , as is tradition , in the halls ' Zaira ' and was attended by the Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, the Deputy Mayor for Planning, Francisco Garcia, the Mayor of Celebration , Isidro Coy, and other council members , neighbours and friends in the neighborhood of this popular holiday seaside resort .

The performance will be held in the auditorium of the Universidad Popular, Avda Constitucion, Mazarrón at 10pm.

WORKSHOPS IN MAZARRÓN- MAY AND JUNE

Continuing the cultural programme on the occasion of the celebration of ' World Book Day ' recently honoured the poet Juan Ramón Jiménez with the reading of  ' Platero y yo' by the Reading Club of Puerto de Mazarrón  in the library. Attendees were treated to a reading of the famous work of the writer and were accompanied on guitar by artist Nares Diaz.

On 30 April tributes to two great figures of Spanish literature, Antonio Machado and Gloria Fuertes , were being demonstrated with poems and plays being read by students from schools in Mazarrón and Cañada de Gallego.

Friday, May 2 , at the close of the ' Book Week ' , saw a tribute to the librarian Francisca Navarro Muñoz  as well as the awards being presented for the photographic competition  ' Nos gusta leer '.


Mazarrón and Puerto de Mazarrón continue offering activities from May to June 7 . These include workshops 'Art of healthy aging through the stories ', especially aimed at older people and  'Encanthadas'   for a teenage audience . Also workshops ' Recognition and processing plants for home remedies ' and         ' Development of hygiene products and natural cosmetics ' to be held on 10 and 17 May respectively in morning and evening.

PALS - FORGET ME NOT CHARITY RACE - 6 MAY

The association 'Protection and Life Saving' (PALS) celebrates this Tuesday 6th May a charity race that will take place from 8pm through the streets of Camposol urbanization. The "excuse" to celebrate this good cause will be the 60th anniversary of the breaking of the barrier 4 minutes in the one mile race, which was accomplished for first time by the British athlete Roger Bannister on 6th May, 1954. The race will consist of 1,609 meters and will be disputed by categories.

This race, in collaboration with the Council for Sports of the Town Hall of Mazarrón, and also Civil Protection, Local Police and Red Cross; will serve to raise funds through donations and sponsorships for the 'Forget me NOT' initiative and is open to all nationalities. The campaign is designed to improve the care and support that is offered to the patients with dementia and their loved ones.

Everyone who wishes to participate can come to the council for more information or call 968 59 18 52. 'PALS' is an association of the town, mainly composed of foreign residents, which collaborates actively with the Town Hall of Mazarrón, providing continuously diverse medical supplies and whose work was fundamental to the achievement of a new ambulance for the town a year ago.

MAZARRON FC GAME - 4 MAY

Mazarron FC are away to Santiago de la Ribera FC this Sunday (4th May) kick off 18.00. The Los Amigos de Mazarron FC supporters coach will leave the car park opposite Consum Supermarket at 16.30. Coach tickets are 8€ for members and 10€ for non members and tickets are available by emailing pamada.1130@yahoo.co.uk before 12 noon on Saturday for details of availability.
