7 MAY - GEOLOGICAL WALKING ROUTE
On Saturday May 7, Mazarrón will host the Geolodía in the
Region of Murcia, a national activity taking place across the country on the
same date. This is a free initiative, which requires no registration, and is
organized by GEaland and the City of Mazarrón.
It is expected that several hundred people will be
participating in a route that will start by the Sandstone Erosions in Bolnuevo
at 9am and will travel a total of 6.5 kilometers with 8 stops where geologists
will have different workshops and will
explain the peculiarities of the geological landscape composition that will be
visited. "This route is known by many, but on May 7 we're going to do it
with geological eyes and be surprised to society" so stressed Nacho
Sierra, responsible for GEaland
The route will involve families being able to participate in
various educational activities, some of
them focused in the analysis of small fossils, for facilitating various
instruments as small magnifying glasses, as indicated by Ainara Aberasturi, a
member of GEaland. The activity has an educational purpose and in order to
maintain a good quality of the event, organizers are allowing no more than 25
groups of visitors to the explanatory workshops.
The initiative as indicated by Councilman of Heritage, Pedro
Martinez, seeks to raise awareness of the rich natural and paleontological
heritage within the municipality and spread it among locals and visitors with
the intention to value and preserve the wealth that entails.
The route is supported by the Geological Society of Spain,
the Spanish Association for the Teaching of Earth Sciences (AEPECT) and the
Geological and Mining Institute of Spain (IGME). In addition, the Cidaris
Foundation also collaborates

SUPERMOTO RACING CHAMPIONSHIPS- 30 APRIL AND 1 MAY
15 year old Loris
Ford-Dunn has had a busy winter testing his new ktm Supermotoland.com SMR 450cc
race bike as he hops up from the youth Supermoto championships of Spain and
into the highly competitive adult classes for 2016. But Loris is no stranger to
Supermoto racing where racers battle on circuits made of asphalt, with off road
jump sections thrown in to make some of the most spectacular and close racing
seen in Spain.
Last year Loris finished
in 4th place in the Spanish Youth championships for 85cc machines in his first
year of racing. He knows that he is now stepping up to the top class, against
many racers that have much more experience than himself but he is relishing the
opportunity to learn from the best.
This year will
essentially be a learning year as he gets used to the more powerful bike and
the tougher competition. With Loris
competing under the wing of the Supermotoland.com race team with continued Sponsorship from
Advance Moves International Removals he is guaranteed the backing and support
that he needs to get himself up to speed.
His season starts in
Alicante on Saturday 30th April at the Albaida circuit near Alcoy, with the
first round of the Spanish championships on one of the toughest supermoto
tracks in Spain. The very next day on
Sunday 1st May the world's best Supermoto racers will be racing at the same
circuit for the 2nd round of the world championship Grand Prixs, so some incredible racing will be on show
over the weekend. Tickets are available on the gate at around 12 Euros each and
the action kicks off from 10.00 hrs on both days. So if you want to see a great
weekends racing action then head for www.motoalbaida.com where circuit
directions and further details can be found.
